I just watched the preview of Skull of Siren Song. It seems like a cool premise, but it also seems like it’s heavily favored for Brigs. It seems like a race to get both a key and the chest. Once a crew has both on board, why would they open the chest until they get to their final destination? Opening the chest curses the ship and slows it down. So why open it until you get to where you turn it in?? Maybe the Devs have thought of this? I think an adequate solution would be to curse the speed of the ship if the Skull is on board -OR- if both the key and chest are on board. Otherwise this event seems highly skewed towards Brigs. IMHO.

Do we know that you can get to the final destination without opening the chest? Seems like it would be a huge oversight if you know where everything is and can just wait until you’re at the final location before opening.
Maybe it works tall tale style, where when you open the chest there’s also notes to pick up to tell you where to go, but the slow down takes effect as soon as you open it? That would make sense to me.
Though if everyone knows where the turn in location is from the beginning, then crews can just wait at the turn in location to ambush. Maybe they will finally give the sea dog tavern a purpose in the game and you turn it in there? Then crews can tuck and ambush the one who has the skull.
@burnbacon its far from forced, you have to opt in. Not sure if drop off point is revealed to all or just opted crews. Time will tell.

Forced event to get more “dynamic” pvp. That all and while everyone is doing that, I’ll be at the nearby fort :)
@TheGingrPrince
From what I understand everyone gets the alert that it's active (forced) I will be with @BurnBacon trying to speed run a fotd lol. (I don't have toooooo...) But it's the old forced into a situation tactic they've used across Bilge Rat and Adventures.@pithyrumble except they said it would be like World Events, so kind of like a FoF I’d think. Everyone hears it when it spawns, but only people who choose to interact with it will be bothered by the rest.
I mean... its an ashen skull.
Maybe if you plan to stack FotD you might pick this up and hold on to it.... but I only see most people caring if it has some neat cosmetic or title tied to turning in xx many of these.
Otherwise it looks like a ton of work for a meh little gadget that feels like a solution looking for a problem.
Like.. "okay guys we worked our butts off and sank two crews to get this... lets go find a use for it"
Exactly. The big distraction shows up, time to drop that Skull of Destiny voyage and scoot!
between this and HG and and eventually safer seas that is so much pressure being removed off pve it's incredible for me to see, considering I've been here talking about it for years
season 8 and 9 and what I know about 10 are so in touch with the organic struggle compared to the past
The old gladiator ways of this game appeal to some but as far as a sustainable environment with so much casual play involved they just really improved in a lot of ways in how they are trying to do things.
I think they will retain far more players in the second half of the game than the first. It'll be less intense but more active and that activity will likely be more varied.

I would sell it for full value without use if there's no usage based achievements/commendations with rewards. If it has a weapon mode I'm sure they're going to tie usage to it. But you literally just fought off a server with nerfs....and now you have a super weapon...guys lol.
I get all my pets for this one.

I wouldn't be upset to see a certain element brought back. Fully realized. Extra options etc.
Since previous statements can be amended when it's useful.
I'm glad I'm not a mod here. 💗 y'all.

I think if you do accept it then while you are doing FotD you can see on the map how it is progressing.

Yeah brig is already meta, and of course a coordinated galleon of good players is generally winning against an evenly matched brig or sloop. Hopefully cursed ship speeds aren't scaled back on the sloop so much as brig/galleon.
The speed penalty will not save the brig or any ship or for that matter favor any ship.
