@labro1599 servers are not decided by Rare. They use Microsoft’s Azure servers that are placed all round the world. You’re better appealing to Microsoft directly than on here.
This is only half-true. While SoT uses Azure, Rare would almost certainly decide which regions/data centers they want to have server clusters in. I'm not sure what Azure region the OP is connecting to, but it's quite possible a region (UAE, etc.) might be closer than what they are connecting to currently. Whether or not that region can actually host SoT I don't know. Or maybe it's not cost effective for Rare; again, I don't know. But if a region is available that's closer to the OP then I don't see why this would be outside of Rare's purview. Furthermore, regions for Israel and Saudi Arabia should be coming sometime in the (near?) future in Azure. It would be good for Rare to know there is interest to have more Middle East regions available.
OP and others, good luck on your quest for better ping. Hope it works out for you.
If M$ doesn't have an azure server in your area Rare can't do much about it.
I would echo complaining to M$ unless you have games on Azure servers in your region. If you have games on Azure servers in your area it is a Rare issue..
Also in favor of improving localization for mid east players.
Yup. Not knowing what region the OP is connecting to makes it hard to tell, but there are Azure regions for the Middle East (with more coming soon). If SoT isn't hosted on one, though, that's a Rare thing. If there's no region at all, that's a Microsoft thing. I'm willing to bet Rare doesn't have SoT running in every single Azure region, and as far as I know they have never released any kind of data map to indicate the regions they use.
OP, if you are interested, one thing you can try is to run an Azure latency test. You can typically choose the regions you want to test against and it will tell you your ping for each region over time. Then compare that to the ping you get in SoT. It's a very crude method and the data you get from SoT will be clouded so it won't be a one to one match, but it will at least give you an idea of the region you might be connecting to. This might be the best indicator of whether it's a Rare thing or a Microsoft combined with Rare thing.
