Bounty Hunter Commendations/Titles

  • Since there is no Anti-Cheat in Sea of Thieves, let's make a new commendation named 'Bounty Hunter'.
I have two ideas how this would work.

    Fisrt idea:
When you report a cheater and the cheater get banned, you receive some Bounty Hunter commendation XP.
Everytime you reach certain amount of Bounty Hunter commendation XP, you unlock the Bounty Hunter Titles with 5 grades of it.
The titles can be Bounty Hunter, Worthy Bounty Hunter, Dedicated Bounty Hunter, Esteemed Bounty Hunter, Unrivalled Bounty Hunter.

    Second idea:
This time, when you report a cheater and the cheater get banned, you don't receive any XP but how many reported cheaters got banned is counted.
This should be preoceeded monthly or seasonal event, and provided in each server(not session, by server means Asia, Europe, NA, etc.) because cheaters are distributed differently in different servers.
At the end of the month(for example), top 3 people who have the highest amount of banned cheaters(not just reported cheaters) get the commendations and its rewards(e.g. titles, cosmetics).
Titles can be Bounty Hunter, Master Bounty Hunter, Legendary Bounty Hunter.

I just want the Sea of Thieves to be a clean(of course, it cannot be 100% clean from cheating but still) game to play and enjoy some good time without cheaters.
I hope there would be an Anti-Cheat program applied anytime soon.

  • No, this will only make it so innocent people will get reported, just because the one who reported hopes it will be 'accepted' and he/she gets the commendation. Also it can make it so people will deliberately alter evidence to make it look like cheating and innocent people can get banned. This will only incentivice false reports and tampered evidence just because people want that commendation for their completion.

Another negative is that Rare will be so swamped with false reports (for above reasons) that they can't handle it and the real cheaters who get reported might be snowed under and it will either take to long before they can act on it, or they can either look at a number of reports and discard the rest and cheaters who do get reported still won't be punished.

A third reason is that it might even incentivice cheating. People might make an alt to cheat, so their main can 'match' their alt on a server (or a HG fight), so they can report their own alt for the commendation.

    Very bad idea.

  • A forum title perhaps would make sense, as reporting people who cheat serves the community, but it should not be seen nor rewarded for purposes of personal gain in game.
