Buff XP for HG - same as captainacy week.

  • I believe that the XP per win in HG under captaincy week was fair and that it should be the new standard; this would help a lot of people accomplish their goals.
I want to hear your input and feedback. I do know that the people who have already achieved it or are very close to it would be quite annoyed, but it's not like it makes a huge difference.
It would help motivate the current grind for HG and hopefully inspire more to complete the 100 or 1000 curses.

It would make no difference compared to when arena time duration was reduced from 24 to 15 minutes, which made Legendary Sea Dog and Triumphant Hull much easier.

  • @sandfeld2004 I am sure there will be a similar boot next Captaincy Week/Community Day etc.

Otherwise, it isn't a boot and those days would be completely pointless.

The Hour Glass levels (and the curses) are not intended to be a race, they are meant to be long-term goals. Some will always 'grind' or rush it, same as anything but they are outliers to the main player base.

  • @triheadedmonkey
It would be nice to have a few days under Community Days where it would be buffed.

  • @sandfeld2004 Was it not the last Community Day? 🤔

I honestly can't remember, I thought all rep was. (I could very well be wrong though so don't quote me!)

  • @triheadedmonkey
My bad, It probably was buffed there; oh well, it's just so demotivating to play after captaincy now, but I get you.

  • @triheadedmonkey thats what we call relativity. if hg rep was double now then the boost during community day would be 4x what it is now instead of 2x. basically the way it is currently and the game as a whole honestly just isnt worth playing during normal time because the reward for everything is so small when we have community days and such making playing much more rewarding. or we could stop doing the bonus days and just increase the progression all around so theres no bad time to play. right now 95% of the play time is the wrong time to play since no boosts are going on. its like gold rush hour. why is this even a thing? its so bad for the game that they actually disable it during community day because everyone would hoard treasure to sell during that 1 hour window and it lagged the servers bad because everyone wanted to maximize their profits

  • @formlesszulu515 If Hourglass Rep was doubled (compared to now) and therefore quadrupled (relatively) during 'boost' events, then achieving the curses would be meaningless as "everyone" (as a lot of people like to 'quote') would be done and dusted with Hourglass within no time.

Again, it is not meant to be a speedrun/race.

It is supposed to be a long-term goal for the majority of players.

I am not a strong PvP player either but know that eventually (maybe) I could get the level 100 curses.

Gold Rush is twice a day to enable the largest amount of players a window in which to sell for extra Gold. One is during daytime hours in EU etc and one is in a US and others time window.

Again, if you boost everything ALL the time...it is not a boost.

  • @triheadedmonkey said in Buff XP for HG - same as captainacy week.:

Again, if you boost everything ALL the time...it is not a boost.

I mean let's be frank here: People want the allegiance gain to be improved because the matchmaking is not doing anyone favors, and the loss allegiance, regardless of how well and long you fought, is still quite small (despite it's increase during Season 8).

People really want to become a ghost or a skeleton, and this is the only way they get to do it. It makes sense to casually take a month or three to gain a reward, this grind on the other hand, spits and laughs at that because of the loss xp (which we should be really grateful we have at all tbh), and poor motivation from HG's functions and common players.

  • @triheadedmonkey
To be honest, HG at the moment isn't about skills it's simply about winning against fair people and losing to hackers, which is around 50% at the moment on Duosloops.

  • @triheadedmonkey

Some of us don't like pvp and I want that Tiger lol. Pass it on I guess 😉

As I recall, the last community event had a boost. It was to my understanding (there would be no math...) it was boosted for Cap Week.

  • @nex-stargaze 'People' want increased Rep for Hourglass because they want the Curses but want it now rather than having to do Hourglass for more than they need to.

I know I am never seeing either curse for a LONG time (currently about level 10 or 11 in both) but I also know PvP is not my thing.

It is what it is. I have a heart condition that means adrenaline from PvP is not my friend....although it is a lot better than the usual 'natural' occurring PvP where you can be jumped at any moment.

At least I made the choice to engage if I dive.

  • @sandfeld2004 Not ideal, I'll grant you but still making progress on a long-term goal. (also hopefully reporting the iffy folks)

  • @triheadedmonkey "Again, it is not meant to be a speedrun/race."

Exactly, it is meant to milk us for maximum interest. It is what you do when a feature is not that great but you invested a lot in it.

  • @pithyrumble I can try and PvP IF I am attacked but know I will likely lose. Either way HG is way better for my health than 'normal' PvP. 😄

I thought it would have been boosted, just couldn't remember.

  • @foambreaker It was always intended as a long-term goal. Some people 'grind' or 'speedrun' it but again they are the outliers.

Think of a Bell Curve, I am at one of the low points, then it moves to 'sweaty PvP tryhards' with the people at the peak of the curve that decided to grind or speed run.

That is OK, they are playing their way....and I am playing mine.

  • @triheadedmonkey
Your current system is not working, sorry. The only place to get them banned is through reports, which are generally bad.

Sure, you can report the obvious ones, who just activated the Xbox Pass and refunded it, but the ones who hide it can stay safe, and there won't be enough proof to get them banned.
So in conclusion, your report system, when it comes to hackers, is basically to ban someone for obvious cheating, and 5 minutes later they can play again.
This is also why I am not reporting, because it is useless after all. At the very least, the reports can give some clues as to what is happening, which could give your futuristic 2040 anti-cheat something to work on.
Without any form of detection, it is completely useless, and the hackers on the main accounts can simply keep going at it because there is no risk.

At the very least, your game has not hit the stage yet where adventure becomes a hacker-infested place, like HG is. But when it happens, good luck giving PvE lords any interest in playing your game.

A buff to the HG would interest people in playing, even though the current state of the HG is 50% luck.

  • I would consider myself an above-average PVP player, during captains' week I gained 30 levels on a couple of 12-hour sessions.
My goal is the Athena gold curse which means that with captains' week rep in 12 hours get 3% closer to my goal (1000 levels).

With those numbers in mind, I would argue that the Xp "boost" we saw during captains' week should become the new base Xp gain for both wins and flags sold.

12 hours for 3% is still a massive grind, but it is a lot better than the current Xp gain we get for wins and flags where the effort to progress is way too hard as it takes many hours just to rank up 10 levels.

Imagine people who are not good at PVP, it would take ages to just get the ghost curse and it would be impossible to get the golden one - There are also many hackers playing HG and you usually meet them a lot and often several times in a row making it very time consuming to get Xp - also very frustrating.

I also agree that during special events the xp should be quadrupled relative to what is at the moment.

  • @sandfeld2004 As a clarification, it is not my game, not my system. Believe it or not, I am a volunteer Moderator which is why I mentioned reporting to the people that actually work for Rare and are able to investigate and action the reports.

Trust me you do not want me anywhere near the actual code/development of the game! 😂

  • @triheadedmonkey
All good, all good. I just see "moderators" as part of Rare, and I do know that you have no part in the current development.
I'm not blaming you at all; I'm just sad to see the current state of HG and no form of fixing it.

  • @sandfire2217 Again, it is meant as a long-term goal. 'Grinding' is a choice.

👏 to those that managed to get Curses (or all of them) in a short period of time but they are the top of the Bell Curve and not the majority.

You are already way ahead of me on your way to Athena Curse and I applaud that.

  • @triheadedmonkey
Well, certainly when it would take "396" hours only, according to Captaincy Week, to get the 1000 levels.

The big question is, how many of the level 1000 players actually hit it legit and not by playing with or themselves being hackers, because, as I have mentioned, it is impossible to ban if they use it discretely.
Big congratulations to those who actually managed to hit it fair and square.

  • @sandfeld2004 Well beyond my Volunteer paygrade I'm afraid!

I do know for a fact that every report is investigated (and actioned if warranted)

    Reports are not in vain.

  • @triheadedmonkey
Reports about cheaters are mostly in vain due to easy access to the game. I mean, sure, if you manage to ban some main accounts, it hurts. But everyone who wants to cheat and ruin the game can do it repeatedly before they get tired.

  • @sandfeld2004 That is a separate conversation and one for Support. I have no power there!

  • @triheadedmonkey
For sure, I just wanted to tell you that reports are mostly likely in vain due to the current system.
