I have shared this idea before but i feel like each ship needs to have atleast 1 player added. Ex. the sloop instead of having 2 players it should be 3 players, brig has 3 players and should have 4 and the galleon being as big as it is should have 5 or 6. yes i know i said 1 more player but the galleon is pretty freaking big and 6 players on a ship may sound like to much but i mean it's a pirate game there should be more pirates to a ship.
number of players
The ships are balanced for the current numbers. This goes for amount of people required to bucket with damage, how many should be able to board etc. Adding more players to each ship type will also significantly impact those who solo. They won't stand a chance against a 3 man sloop. I think the numbers are perfect as they are for each ship.
I would say it's too easy right now to make an alliance to solve these issues you have.
Some of the best experiences I've had is Galleoning and recruiting a sloop who ditched their ship and joined the galleon. It does make the galleon significantly more effective.
As far as the Sloop and Brig id say it doesn't change the threshold of effective ship use having more than 3 on a brig or more than 2 on a sloop.
Galleon is the only exception to this and you are sort of right, but it would mess with balance if they allowed you to lobby in with more than 4.
Suggestions like these entertain me because I want to believe that in the back of the heads of the people making these suggestions completely forget or ignore the fact that there are people with no friends to sail with that now have to fight ships with 3x more crew than them, putting them in an instant lose scenario if a boat bigger than the boat for solos shows up and appears for combat.
@metalhead64 this again...for over 5 years this comes up every now and then...a thing people like you always forget is: Fairness and Balance
More players on a sloop makes it almost impossible to sink it
More players on gally and brig means one (more) boarder without any disadvantagesA BIG NO FROM ME
The subject is definitely debatable. Now I know the sloop can definitely be impossible to sink but there are other factors to consider when having extra people on board. Any size ship can go down fast if you got the right crew, Set the ship on fire and if you're lucky enough knock a player or 2 down by canon fire and have 1 or 2 crew member to jump ship and finish the job. It's really not that hard to devise a plan. I will say though it can and maybe be troublesome if implement it.
Would i be correct in assuming that the reason for wanting this change is to have some one fixing, some one on the wheel, and some one on each cannon? I only ask because saying 5 or 6 for galleon, with 6 that would allow every job to be fully filled on that ship.
If every ship adds 1 more person, then all would need to be nerfed because every ship is balanced around the max player count of the ship. Any ship with more players becomes increasingly difficult to sink per player onboard, and you cant say that just increasing the number on all ships is the balance, because its a matter of how fast they sink, and having to pull resources from one place to deal with a situation elseware.
