I wondering, with the revamping and improvements made to Port Merrick (formerly New Golden Sands Outpost), does anyone think the Reaper's Hideout could use a redesign? This could be a good way to show that the Reaper's Bones are moving forward as well since Flameheart is back. I could imagine the updated hideout appearing more militarized or resembling a fortress with a spot to dock your rowboat if you have one. Since the Reaper's Lair became available a few months ago, I don't think revamping it so soon would be necessary but maybe that chained up door with the Flameheart logo could be open with him in there similar to how the Pirate Lord is available in a room in the Athena's Fortune hideout.
Refining Reaper's Hideout & Lair
I think it depends on the lore, who is "winning" the war for the Sea of Thieves, and who has superior force.
Building a port is a beacon. Cannons were added to Golden Sands (yes I will always call it that) because you can't move it, so you need to defend it. Athena's winning the "save Golden Sands" event implies that there are more Athena pirates on the seas than Reaper pirates, so it behooves the Reapers to use guerrilla tactics so they don't immediately lose to superior numbers.
In that sense, building a fortress and announcing to your enemy "here I am!" is not a wise strategy to undertake. Remaining hidden below just another shipwreck on just another island is the sound decision until you can come back in force.
But otherwise yes, Reaper's absolutely deserve a sinister looking citadel.
