Golden Sands Outpost petition

Well it's what it is. I wonder whats in plans since they chose to mess with this Outpost in the first place. It was certainly one of my favorite ones, due to how beutiful the game looked there. But I am just wondering if this location has anything to do what they have in plans for the future. Like the reaper being in the middle of the map, what purpose a port town will have on the west side of it?

I guess we will get used to it, I personally think they should have named a Barber shop after him, as a nod to his beutiful hair.

@jerichocross666 I also fought for an outpost with convenient and plentiful barrel placement. Got an outpost where all barrels are in groups of two and are spread across the entire island

Exactly, fully agree with your thoughts. Golden Sands should have always been kept. It was the first shores I came to as a baby pirate.

I dont think it was a terrible decision considering all but 1 outpost was there from the start. Its just a visual name change, you can still call it golden sands all you like and most people will know where you are saying.

As a small side note, merrick died to the dark brethren, not the reapers, but its a very common mistake i have seen.

Yeah they won’t be doing that. Port Merrick is here to stay.

Being that Golden Sands was where I first became a pirate legend, I understand the sentiment you share. I don't mind that the world is changing. It is interesting. I will still have my photos of the night, but the landscape has indeed changed.

I would be in favor of renaming the Tavern the "Golden Sands Cantina" or something like that. I don't think anybody would miss the "Captain's Head.".

I really like the name change, personally; I think Port Merrick sounds cool, and it rolls off the tongue better than New Golden Sands Outpost.

@goldsmen lorewise, the people of the Sea of Thieves believe he was murdered for saving the outpost. Most people, including the outpost locals, don’t know the brethren were responsible. Only really Athena’s Fortune and his family know the truth. That’s why everything is treated as if he’s gone for good, the public eye thinks he was a martyr

to think about it, renaming it does make the Golden Sands kinda gone. Makes the #teamburngoldensands still win somehow. Funny (not rly, keep the name Rare)

I feel that the name is pretty dumb tbh, im never calling that port merrick and u can have a different opinion idm but my concern is that new players see outposts as points for selling loot so how is port merrick gonna attract attention for them. they need to put some sort of a hint to an outpost in the name in my opinion

the group I sail with still calls it golden sands and will likely to do so for the foreseeable future. I meant 1000s of hours have been spent calling it Golden Sands.

Naming it after a buffoon of a character is even sillier.
