Me and my crew invest our time in doing an ashen vault, get all of the loot outside of the inner door only for the island to erupt, ship almost ruined, we managed to stay alive and keep our sloop afloat somehow and managed to get far away enough from the blast range, only to then have a megladon hunt us down while we're still putting out fires, we managed to stay alive and beat the meg and all in and all it was a great experience... Until we returned to Fletcher's rest and find the outer door closed and all of our hard earned loot gone/trapped. Feels deflating and ruins what was genuinely a great experience in the game, this should really be addressed
Devils Roar vaults!
@andy-g-1112 That is part of the risk of doing Roar Vaults. Tip i would give you is just wait untill the vulcano on that island erupts and go for the vault directly after it. Then you know you have enough time to do the vault and put all the chests outside the outer door.
@super87ghost Thanks for the tip, theoretically if you were to do this solo, would you allow your ship to sink and get the chests later, or park it at a very far distance and rowboat to the island?
@zig-zag-ltu I have always done it solo and always used the tactic of waiting untill it had just erupted, then park close and do it.
Parking outside of that vulcano's range will probably put it in range of another vulcano, so that won't realy help. But if i have to choose to put the vault-loot safe outside so i can collect it later, or to protect my ship with emissary flag, i would go for the loot. Because that flag is useless without loot. Rather handing in the loot under a grade 1 flag then having a grade 4/5 flag without any loot.
@super87ghost completely get the risk and reward and like I say overall it was a really fun experience having to deal with everything thrown our way so to me we dealt with the risk and deserved the loot.. the outer door should be on a cool down timer before closing rather than when the volcano erupts or you reset the island title. Seems a bit unfair and very unrewarding
@andy-g-1112 It didn't close because of the vulcano, but because you where out of range and the entire island reset.
@super87ghost yeah I assumed that's what would have happened, still think it should be a cool down timer rather than distance from Island though

I wouldn't leave the island. That outer door doesn't close unless you leave. I'd rush back to my vessel and I would "turtle". That is keep my boat alive through the the fire and rocks.
Such is the way of the Devils Roar! This is what it's all about; this is why some players stay away, and it's certainly why all the Ashen loot is worth 1.5x more gold!
More risk = More reward.
If you're not putting more on the line, don't expect to be making stacks any time soon.
Keep an eye on the island as you approach, see if it erupts during/before your arrival, and don't forget the usual rumbles and earthquakes that happen just before an eruption. You can send one person back to the ship when it starts to happen, but sometimes it's just a fakeout and the island doesn't fully erupt every time.
