Ship change at shipwright...

  • Something and a buddy have talked about almost every time we've played and have someone that wants to join/leave us and we have to switch to a bigger/smaller boat.
Really, really wish we could pay the shipwright to let us switch our ship but keep our supplies, emissary, voyages, and possibly loot. Like would be amazing if I could play with my buddy on a sloop then later when we have friends that wanna join we could just sail to an outpost and pay shipwright to switch us to a galleon. I understand the ship limit issue per server but if it just swapped you to a server with an opening for whatever size ship is in question that would be amazing.
Now that captained ships are a thing I think you should only be able to do if from a captained ship to another captained ship.
I would straight pay 10k a boat swap any day of the week if I could keep my supplies, emissary, and voyages and get my friends to join.

You might as well quit back to main menu and start up a new ship.

Thing is. You can go from small to large but you can’t go large to small, and keep resources.

Mainly because each ship has so much space in each barrel and number of barrels differs. So if you were one of the lucky few to have a barrel full. 100% full on a galleon and wanna switch to a sloop, your gonna lose some resources

  • @burnbacon
Ya but at that point who cares? I don't care if I go from 3k cannonballs to 1k because I switched to a sloop... Who would seriously care at that point? If you have more than 300 cannonballs on a sloop your ready for battle
Same food barrels and same wood barrel... Only cannonball barrels would change
And what about keeping voyages? Just screw 2 hours of work, double stacked emissary quests, and a grade 5 flag because I'm going to lose a single cannonball barrel....
Seriouy think it would be a great add that would improve so much with your friends

  • Would only say smaller would be feasible, ability to get bigger ship would make recontests painful if everytime you sink someone they come back with bigger crew

  • @hiradc not if it switched servers to a server that needed that size boat
Which in turn would help keep servers populated and reduce server merges

  • With the new "Scuttle to new server" feature, that's how I could see this being an option now.

They could add a "Scuttle to a new server and change crew size" option.

Then, you'd keep your supplies and your current voyage and you'd be placed on a new server.

I would definitely NOT want to see any option to maintain the same server or Emissary status after changing crew size. That would be way too powerful.

Love this idea. So many posts over the years have asked for this option and I think this would be a great way to implement it!

  • I don't think size changing is going to happen any time soon. However, I would LOVE for the ability to swap in/out captained ships of the same type. Great for if the captain leaves, or you accidentally join using the wrong buttons and end up with a generic ship, etc.
