Sliding

  • I feel like in sea of theives season 10 they should make a system where you can slide to go faster it couldn't be used on boats tho we dont want to be in a player death loop

  • What would this benefit? Go faster? Sliding on the sand?

  • So I can see a bunch of COD slide canceling all over the place? No thanks

  • Ok I’m guessing this is cause Apex Legends has sliding for quick manoeuvrability. Imma stop you right there, the sliding mechanic in that game is stupid, and it would be stupid in SoT too. Rare can barely get sliding down a water shoot without it looking janky and clunky never mind bringing it in as a mechanic for players to use on the go.

  • @m97yawadiar stick to apex!

  • This is not fortnight, go play fortnight.

  • I don't play Apex nor fortnight and I'm not trying to use those ideas from those games here I just want to go faster at a outpost

  • @burnbacon going faster

If you need speed at an outpost, im not sure why you would need it considering how compact they tend to be, but if you need it you can sword lunge into the water and skim around a beach to go much faster than usual. Thats how i get around the shores of larger islands with haste.

  • @m97yawadiar not saying that sot is a realistic game or anything like that.

However sliding is in no way shape or form faster then running….

  • @callmebackdraft we could slide down the beaches for a little extra boost if the boat is parked a little far

  • Look, I know that Titanfall 2 is arguably the best movement shooter so I get where you're coming from (I like how everyone is just inserting random games with sliding in the comments here), but I don't really see much utility of sliding in SoT honestly. Wherever there's a hill there's a small cliff edge too usually, and a sword lunge can make the same if not more distance than sliding could for the most part.

So it's not just "ew no all these other games have actually good movement tech" it's more "...this game doesn't really need better movement tech, islands are somewhat small enough and fast to traverse as it is"

  • Sorry but I disagree, I don't think of sliding as something that pirates would do. Sliding is more akin to futuristic games, and even then, it's a mechanic that is being a bit overused now a days. Final reason why I disagree with this heavily is because we don't even have a crouch button to even make the sliding feature smooth. It would go directly from a slide to a full-on standing sprint...

it's a straight No for me. Rather see a hook shot gun tool instead

  • Yeah, I don't think sliding makes sense or belongs in this game. Crouching on the other hand would make a lot of sense and hopefully devs could consider adding it, could serve as a great mechanic if they decide to rebalance guns and introduce weapon sway ^^
