So... I've been working on my outdated Player Commendations and Tall Tales to get myself the Gold Curse eventually.
On 03/07/2023 Between 12am-3am EST, I was on my 5th and final run of doing the Tall Tale: Art Of The Trickster.
Once I got the Keg Key and went to Sailor's Bounty to fight off all the Skeletons. I eventually got myself the Vault Key for Crescent Isle.
Since the Merm Statue where the Trickster's Lair is not allowing me to deposit the Vault Key nor Return To My Ship, I had to run back up the trapped tunnels to my ship with the Key.
Once I got towards Crescent Isle, I noticed a Sloop at Crescent Isle and as most Solo Players can be and get concerned for the other ships and the potential of combat. I sat and waited for the action,
The Sloop whom I encountered was solo and was waiting for their friend to join. We did end up making an Alliance together.
They also said to me they were trying to do the Gold Vault at Crescent Isle. Their words were simply put: "I've been running around for like 15 Minutes trying to start this Vault and I get getting the message saying "Vault In Use" and there's a Vault Key already on the Pedestal and the Vault Door is open."
Me sounding confused, I replied back to the other player: "That's really strange... Could it be due to me running my Tall Tale "The Art Of The Trickster"? Because Crescent Isle's only Vault is used for this Tall Tale now... Let me take a look and see if the vault looks different for me on my end..."
So both of us go over to the vault and bring our vault keys. I look at the Vault Pedatol and Vault Door and I see no Vault Key and a Closed Vault Door. I say to the other player: "This is weird... I don't see any message as you did for the Vault. And It's telling me to place my key down... Plus the door is closed for me..."
And now, this player I was with hasn't played SoT in a hot minute and didn't know about the Emissary Flags. But before that, I said to the other player since we were allies: "Have you done The Art OF tHe Trickster Tall Tall Vault before?" They say "No.." So I say "Well then wanna join me in the vault so we can test to see if my Tall tale is messing up your Gold Vault?"
So the 2 of us go into the Vault and I get my Shroudbreaker Stone and the 2 of us get the coral skeletons killed and get the medallions into the vault to unlock the door to get out.
As we got out of the vault once my Tall Tale was done and I only had to return to Plunder Valley to finish my Tall Tale. I recommended to the other player saying: "Since we just did the vault for my Tall Tale and it's glitched for you. As I mentioned earlier the Gold Horder Flag is to be raised to help you get more money from the Vault. So, if you sail over to New Golden Sands Outpost and raise Gold Hoarder and come back to Crescent, I'm gonna be heading to Plunder Valley. So by both our ships leaving the area. It should reset Crescent Isle and you should be able to do your vault if my theory is correct."
So with my suggestion in play and then meeting up with my allies a bit later. My allies told me "Us leaving Crescent and coming back did fix our vault! And OMG you weren't kidding about the rep from the Gold Hoarder Flag! thank you for all the tips!"
As a sign of me feeling bad that my Tall Tale Glitched the vault in the 1st Place and this player was just returning. I happily hooked them up with a lot of loot to bring their spirits up more.
So with the story above now out of the way. The real reason for this report is that The Art Of The Trickster Tall Tale needs to be adjusted.
As I mentioned previously, The Merm statue in the Trickster's Lair wouldn't load.
Due to me running the Tall Tale and the Vault being dedicated to only Crescent Isle for the Vault. This is going to impact a lot of players... I can already say at this current moment, I have a lot of friends of mine who are fairly new to SoT in 2023. They are not as familiar with doing Tall Tales and want to get the Gold Curse as I'm trying to.
I would honestly like to suggest making the Trickster Vault 1 of multiple Vaults. OR, To whoever may be running a Vault Quest. The server should note who's running Art of the Trickster and lockout Crescent Isle Vault to anyone else on the server until it's completed and make the users doing vaults have to go to another vault instead.
I will happily say, I had no idea things like this could happen and I felt extremely bad the user couldn't do their vault. But at the end of the day. I made a new friend on the seas and we worked together as an alliance to get them back into the swing of sailing.
My major concern is that this should be looked over and patched before Season 9. This way should any newcomers join, They don't get impacted by others like what happened with me and the other player who I met and now I hope to sail with them in the future.
How Would 1 Replicate This Issue:
- Run Tall Tale: Art Of The Trickster
- Acquire The Vault Key For Crescent Isle Once The Completion Of The Skeleton Battle Within Sailor's Bounty
- Attempt To Use Merm Statue To Store The Key/Return To Ship (Does Not Work)
- Have Another Ship Running A Gold Vault Voyage Where The Vault Is At Crescent Isle
- Have Both crews Meet At Crescent And See If The Tall Tale Is Locking Out The Access To The Vault
- If Vault Is Locked And Dedicated To Only The Tall Tale - Do 1 OF Following:
a) Complete Tall Tale And Have Both Crews Leave The Island Have The Vault Reset And See If The Gold Vault Ship Can Get Into The Vault Upon Return (What I Did With The Other Crew)
b) Cancel Tall Tale And Repeat From Above With Leave And Return To Island To Reset Vault
c) Test The Theory Of Burying The Vault Key From The Tall Tale And See If It Glitches Out THe Vault All Together - If The Options from 6 Resolve The Issue, Perhaps Apply An Update To:
a) Whoever Is Running Gold Vault Quests Does Not Get Crescent Isle As A Vault With The Tall Tale Is In Progress
b) Relocate The Vault From The Tall Tale To Another Vault On The Server To Avoid This Glitching Of The Vaults
This situation happened while playing SoT On Windows 10 PC Via XB Game Launcher.
I will Say Too That I'm not 1 to exploit this type of stuff. I'm just another Pirate who's sailing the seas having fun with the game and working on commendations. I'm only 4 More Trips through Both Fate and Revenge Of The Morning Star + 2 more Shores Of Gold to finally acquire the Gold Curse too
