What do you think of not being able to PVP while in a city? I get the "hurry and unload" rush and I wouldn't want that to change, but what about the inner portion of the city. Where pirates can sit at a bar and B.S. about their voyage or find other players to voyage on quests with them?
Non-PVP Inner Cities?
@k0rso we left civilization to sail as pirates free from that. No thanks.
No safe zones. You should always be a potential target
@targasbr What if it was a place where you still can pvp you are just not supposed to?
Lets say you killed another player there and this automatically puts a bounty on your head and marks you on the map for others to see for a certain amount of time.
You have to get away from the outpost while some NPC's chase you but if they do kill you, you get thrown in to a brig where you have a chance to wait out a specific amount of time or pay a fine to get out.
The more you repeat the offense the more the fine and time you have to wait in the brig.So you can still pvp, you can get away, but you are not supposed to which would make it fun.
I’m not much of a PvP’er, but no to PvE zones. For me, much of the excitement of the game is Is my ship going to be safe when I’m away from it? Am I going to be safe?. PvE/Safe Zones would take away from that.

I would really like a social area in the game, with games, duels, music, etc. But this place would have to be completely outside of anything related to the rest of the game, in a way that nobody could flee to this place to escape a possible confrontation.
I suppose a possible fix to this is to prevent anyone who's has the hourglass active from entry. Another possibility is to force people to put a flag or certain boat cosmetic that's only changeable at port whilst also not allowing you to change while IN combat. Not only is it hard to change boat cosmetics while someone's chasing you (boat has to be really close to port to change cosmetics) but it would likely mean they'd start pumping you with holes and you'd sink by the time you did anything else.
Honestly with the pvp update I don't think there are that many people who go searching for kills. Then again, knowing this community, the toxic pvpers would just camp and prevent entry or something.
otherwise just put it in the roar, literally no one goes there 😂

I really can’t see the point of things such as card games in SoT. If I want to play a pirates/sailing game I’ll play SoT. If I want to play cards or Kerplunk then I’ll do those outside of SoT. But that’s just me. 😄

With the occasional Pirate Legend turning in his Athena treasure ?

I don't know if this kind of complexity would fit with Sea of Thieves.

Cardgames were just one example, there are dozens of games that would be interesting in terms.

So the idea is to be separated in a way that doesn't disturb the rest of the game.
@targasbr I think it would. I remember when the game first started it was extremely simple, there were forts, digging up treasure and pvp thats it.
But now we have tons of things some of them which were flat out refused by the community because they thought they would be game breaking like NPC ships and now they are a simple compliment to the game.
Besides this doens't have to be everywhere maybe just one location for the sake of variety.@pumpa-cat Its not about playing cards itself but more about a mechanic that allows you to either win or lose money based on a minigame for those who have so much gold they don't actually have anything to spend it on anymore.
But i see any suggestion unrelated to pvp you come across you flat out refuse.@targasbr said in Non-PVP Inner Cities?:

I suppose I may have misunderstood your post, did you mean "outside" such as the arena? or just in a corner of the map?
The ladder has the unfortunate effect of trolls camping and killing you there

Outside, something accessed from the menu for example.

But i see any suggestion unrelated to pvp you come across you flat out refuse. Then you clearly only see/read what you want to see/read. I am not a PvPer, but I accept it’s a big part of the game and something difficult to avoid at times. I have no objection to more PvE content. Just not silly little games. I’d rather it be adventuring.
@eva1977 said in Non-PVP Inner Cities?:
@pumpa-cat No i see your replies to my suggestions.
As for the games being "silly" yeah i'm pretty sure chasing around a pig on an island, or puking on someones face, or making them dance with a cannon ball are very serious activities.Puking on someone’s face! I saw Neebs do that to one of his group (or was it one of his group doing it to him? 🤣🤣🤣🤣)
Anyway, if you consider chasing pigs or puking on somebody as adventuring, then you’re not even worth me wasting iPad typing over. 🤣🤣🤣
@eva1977 said in Non-PVP Inner Cities?:
@pumpa-cat You might prefere "adventuring" and might be able to avoid all that other stuff while doing so.
But the game clearly has a comedic aspect to it so to consider a mini game silly because you don't like it then obviously don't know what you were wasting time comenting on any of my posts.Yes I agree the game does have comedic value to it. It's a very strange breed.
How we can have a pirate game without a proper bar to drink, hang out, and play games and gamble (with íngame gold only ofc) is beyond me.
I really think 1 specific area on the map would be alright for that. Dont even make the harbor "invincible". Just the players in the bar. This would disrupt literally nothing.
You could also just make noone invincible, dont care.
But give us a proper bar to hang out, chat, and play games about ingame money/gamble.Imho the new golden sands could be that - or the arena location, since its in the middle of the map, and not used for anything
@captain-coel so what. I see noone running around naked with sticks and stones, i see nooone running around trading sheep for fur. What did we leave behind exactly.
What i do see is a bunch of pirates, grouping in different emissaries with differnet goals, all digging up treasure or stealing it, all wanting to drink grog and gain gold coins.
We want to be free, alright. I want to gamble! Are you telling me I cant do that ?! Go away with your rules ;)@k0rso I am. All for it. But just a very very small place like a tavern or something where you could link up with others to achieve a common goal not everything had to be look over your shoulder there's literally the whole map for that
@k0rso said in Non-PVP Inner Cities?:

That's just Discord/Social Media websites lol
I think a crew's stories can be extremely valuable to it's own crew, and unless they have method to tell those stories out of the game, they will remain valuable to that crew only.
That being said, no non-PvP zones. This creates the same exact issues that come with "playing board games with other crews at the outpost." This will take away players from the main world and doing any activities. The seas are already quiet now thanks to Season 8, I think we can enjoy that peace for a little while longer.

Sea of Thieves is about pure freedom without much consequence, when we add rules and stipulations to it, this game is something different.
Also I don't think a Pirate game needs to mirror mechanics from the GTA series, that's just... no.

What? So I can't run up to a random ship, drag the helmsman off the wheel, throw him overboard and drive off with his ship? :-O
You could really implement that "bar" as some sort of ingame lobby, before entering the main game.
This would not take players away from the open waters, and I swear it would make open crews so much more relaxed if you could simply gather a crew before starting, and group together based on each ones interests.
I think this feature has been proposed numerous times in the forum alrdy.
To not make it utter chaos, implement tables, and people need to sit down on the specific table to be able to communicate via mic, ergo only people on your table hear each other using their mics or chat.@eva1977 said in Non-PVP Inner Cities?:

Even in-game with in-game (non-purchasable) currency?

It would be enough to push it up to M. Which...tbh...the booze cruise party boat should have anyways lol.
There's also things I'd rather see polished before adding more new features.
I never knew that. 😮
