With the new PvP system, when you reach level 1000 you get the golden variations of the new curses. My question is does these new factions top out at 1000 or can you take them higher?
Has anyone actually gotten to 1000 and possibly beyond?
@wolfmanbush said in Is there A level higher than 1000?:
shouldn't be a cap on anything milestone related (if there is one)
entire point of milestones is to serve people's stats including extreme players
no caps imo
Faction rep =/= milestone rank
As far as I know the faction rep goes up to 1k and the milestones are uncapped.

no real reason to have a ridiculous level like 1000 (that most players aren't realistically going to hit, especially now that a lot of the momentum is gone from the content) and capping it
especially when they had someone hitting it as quickly as they did
let the extreme shoot for the stars
Im aware there is no rewards past 1000. Im asking if there is a ceiling on the levels. I know it’s almost impossible but I was hoping that at least one player made it past 1000 so they can confirm that there is in fact no ceiling on the levels.
I believe the ceiling is 9999 as I do not think they programmed it to progress into 5 characters of data and it makes sense they would have just set default values of 0-9 for each character.
I do know you can progress past the characters of 1-0-0-0, as I know someone who has the gold curse and they are over 1000.
Though that might also just be "for now" as they left things a bit incomplete with the gold versions. They aren't unlocking commendations when worn and they didn't even have the default curse emotes attached to them.
Also, I do not believe there is any reward for 9999. That's just the character limits for programming.

I believe it goes passed 1000.
But no one should have this right now, unless they cheated.
there are plenty of people/crews that are skilled enough in sot to do it legit if they spent the extreme time playing (not rare in this game) and if they were in a situation where they got quick matches (boat size and region)
it's not really surprising or suspicious that a few of the most skilled and extreme people in the game with matchmaking luck would have this legit, it's to be expected imo
Even though many have had long wait times there are still people that haven't had much of an issue depending on area and boat/crew size
@wolfmanbush It's still too early.
Level 1000 takes a very long time to get to.
If someone is that level now they have either been unheathily playing or they used alliances.

that's not cheating though
alliances are similar to cheating in that people that get extreme results are accused of both but the reality is that there are extreme players that are efficient with high success rates
people that are driven and disciplined can achieve incredible accomplishments without violating rules and cheating or cheesing, competition in everything does have both but that doesn't mean that someone that reached peaks did either.
I don't personally know anyone that has done it so far or is close but my guess would be that they are aware of what they are capable of and they are following through with results to make it more than just a theory and/or belief.
@wolfmanbush @PersonalC0ffee SoT twitter retweeted someone who got the gold skeleton curse. He’s a streamer and was part of the NAL. It’s not unreasonable for someone like that to achieve the curse through their normal play style(hours a day and extremely good at PvP).
I doubt SoT official would have retweeted someone they thought might have cheated, and you can go watch most of his VODs on his twitch to see his progression. He hit 1000 in SotF December 18 and is halfway through GoF after taking a Christmas vacation.

Like I said, no lifing.
Though, in this regard I'm proven wrong. It appears someone does actually have it now.
Which is honestly sad, then they'll say there is nothing to do.
the nothing to do narrative comes far more out of the crowd that hasn't done everything or most things
extreme play is typically supported by strengths in self motivation and session/goal creativity
it's how people are still here years and thousands of hours later even though content stays the same for (sometimes) long amounts of time and even though there is a lot of monotony in the game
@personalc0ffee I dunno, the evergreen content of Season 8, is more PvP encounters. You get on that hourglass, you're looking for someone to fight, you don't have to grind, you just hope you can get some tough fights that test your mettle and help you improve your skills in 1v1s.
Yes, a 2x NAL Champion from EU managed to clear the toughest grind the season has in store within a month of the season's launch, but I mean: they're practically a professional player in a region that by default, has more crews constantly available to fight. We even have legitimate crews in AUS that have earned the Golden Ghost Curse, which is mind boggling considering that region is known for not having a high population of players.
Just a lot of unfair characterizations happening in this thread. If someone plays SoT as their job(I’m not necessarily saying Mino does, but there are plenty of full time streamers) then that doesn’t mean they have no life or play an unhealthy amount. If you sit at your computer from 9-5 coding or if you sit at your computer from 9-5 streaming… it’s no different. They are both jobs. Most of the full time streamers clock out after stream and don’t play anymore until next stream unless they need to test something pre-stream, which is just prepping for work still.
By the time season 7 had released I was already done with almost everything in the game. I needed shrouded ghosts and generous gifts. That’s it. Period. So season 7 introduced nothing new for me, but I still played. Not everyone needs new content to keep playing, some people like to play and that’s just it.

very impressive
@nex-stargaze That is mind boggling, yes.
I guess they didn't make 1000 take near long enough.
I think a solid 3 months of everyday play and win and you still won't have it is plenty long enough just in case anyone asks.
I will probably never achieve level 1000.

before they said they nerfed it I heard it was 2 wins a level for most of that climb
so they would have got in early in that quicker leveling on the higher levels
they shouldn't balance or nerf things based on extreme play
I class 100'd multiple pve spawns in the first month and they definitely shouldn't base things off what I do.
A few people doing something quickly should largely be ignored in decision making, the content is to serve everyone, so gotta focus on the middle far more when making decisions while allowing the quickest to do their thing
@personalc0ffee Dec. 24 to Dec. 26 was a G&G weekend that also offered boosted allegiance gains. That's the only way other legitimate people besides Mino have also obtained their golden curse not too long after him. Add the fact that these players are consistently garnering high streaks, turning in opposing emissary flags to the respective representatives, and turning in hourglass value between session of diving, just like the current grind to PL on G&G weekends, you can trivialize the grind to the big reward, but of course, only if you're good enough.

Level 1000 should mean something.
It should be a titan of a goal and not easy to reach or fast.
The average player should take a year or longer to reach this goal.

Yah, IMO they shouldn't have done that. Allegiance, like emissary value should get no bonus.
I'm largely against all these bonuses and buffs as it is.
They happen far too frequently and inject too much money into the game.
The emissary system as it is, is fast enough for good gold and reputation gain.

Universal significance is reduced by widespread cheesing it isn't negatively effected by the the most dedicated reaching it first and much more quickly
Nothing about the content was harmed by a few dedicated people getting there first by playing the content as designed.
