Gold Sink Suggestion

  • Upgrading the boat through utility upgrades. Give us the ability to upgrade things like the stove to have more burners, the ability to buy a rowboat in a similar manner we buy supplies, etc.

  • @grizzly2511 there is not enough room on the ship for such a cooker

  • I think the trinkets introduced in S7 and S8 with their upgradable tiers alongside the ability to purchase supplies from the shipwright (as a captained ship) and merchants, as well as the purchasing price of each ship you can own as a captained ship are more than enough of a gold sink.

If you're bad at PvP and don't PvE much, you'll find yourself losing a lot more gold purchasing supplies for fights you're not having/winning. If you're not doing voyages/world events and turning in what you find, you're not making too much gold in comparison to whatever you make off of Season Pass progression, Daily Deeds, Event completion, etc.

Season 7 was a pretty good gold sink season if you're not the voyaging type, and if you're not spending hours gathering loot to hopefully turn in later, you'll find yourself coming up short and in need of gold grinding sessions where you can fully focus on PvE and try your best not to sink while you attempt to stack loot to turn in to the Sovereigns at the end of your captaincy session.

  • @grizzly2511 rowboat i don't mind but I don't like the additional stove idea.

It's not a perfect example but in general I think the game design is such that a brand new player has access to same mechanics and no advantages other than experience for veterans. You could argue captaincy and shipwright supplies is a slight change on that, and stove wouldn't be a big factor for pvp but i think it's just an avenue they will generally avoid.

As we come to have port towns like golden sands perhaps the available spots for multi cooking will increase alongside sea forts

Cosmetics mean very little to me. I loved the actual gameplay updates that helped optimized the game. Buying supplies, captaincy quests, supplies dropping on sink, pvp on demand. All fantastic editions. Being able to decorate your ship or turn into a skeleton had very little appeal to me.

Considering how many supplies we get now from either captaincy purchases, sea forts, and pvp. I find my crew and myself constantly cooking. Having an extra burner sounds like a great edition.

Another idea my friend had was adding a pulley system for a harpoon variation. The idea is you harpoon an island and automatically ferry loot to the ship by just attaching it to the rope.

  • Paying for repairs is a gold sink. Everyone hates it.
