PC - FPS drop to 60 FPS but VSYNC is OFF.

  • Hi, I'm having a problem where I've set my framecap to 120FPS, but when it drops below that it's locking to 60 FPS. Why is it doing this? It's like Vsync behaviour but I have checked and Vsync is definately off. Happens if I set frame cap to 144FPS too.

I can't run Framecap off because for some reason it feels really juddery even though I'm getting 110-150 FPS 99% of the time. Just feels terrible, loads of micro stutters. So I have to run framecaps of 144 or 120 FPS. But as I said, occasionally it will drop down to 60FPS and it's terribly jarring.

  • @malkytheheed Probably capped fps your gpu settings/software?

  • Well it's not that because 95% of the time I'm at the 120 FPS framecap, just occasionally it drops to 60FPS.

  • Just occasionally it drops to exactly 60FPS. So it's never 90fps, or 83 fps. It's either 120fps, or drops to 60 fps. which is a vsync behaviour. But vsync is turned off.

Check your gpu driver to see if vsync has been turned on through some optimization setting.

  • Yeah possible. I would probably just reset to default settings in gpu software, whatever card and setup you're using, and go from there

  • some ways to increase game performance on PC:

    • In graphic settings have everything on cursed except for model detail, model detail should be on rare
    • In Video settings have resolution scaling put to 100
    • VSync should be off and along with frame rate lock
    • Make sure your monitor has 144Hz activated on it
    • In Graphic settings under Visibility : Make sure everything is on, this gets rid of cannon shake, rats on the boat and blur

This is the most optimal form of gaming in SoT for the majority of players. FPS drops are bound to happen and normal, but it should not be consistently dropping to 60. These graphic settings may not look the best originally, but they pay off in the long run when you get accustomed to them.
