Inactivity timer

  • The inactivity timer could be a bit longer. Can't even take a small break with out loosing all keys and loot, since you get kicked out. even +5-10min would make a massive difference...

  • I wouldn’t mind if it was 5 minutes longer. Right now it’s 10 minutes, which is a lot better than tons of multiplayer online games. Gotta remember it’s a multiplayer online and not just a RPG or single player game. We are actively connected and using resources every time we are in a session, so it’s fair that they put a time limit on that if you go afk. I wouldn’t mind 5 more minutes, but I understand if they feel 10 minutes is their max that they are ok with.

    Do wish being inside the options and cosmetics menu didn’t count as being inactive though. Sucks super hard to be clothes shopping and taking a long time and get afk kicked even though you were technically interacting with the screen, moving from item to item and scrolling through categories.

  • Honestly I feel like it was just a simple solution they came up with to solve a problem of people afking in arena or in open crews just to leech. If I understand correctly the timer is a bit longer if you do an emote like sleeping? Because they know "tuckers" are going to not be very active while they wait for the perfect moment to strike. I guess it could be easy enough to test simply logging in and timing a normal afk then doing it again with an emote.

    I am almost convince my friend has some kinda virus because he only played with me like two times since he found the game boring I decided to show him the shores of gold. So unless afk timer is different on tall tales or just at that island he was afk for like 30+ minutes and never got kicked. He wouldn't even know how to setup a macro even if he wanted to so not sure what it was that kept him logged in.

    I feel like the system needs some work. It has actually even kicked me once causing me to loose fish and bait because I had some bad luck and kept pulling my line back in before the fish would bite waiting to get the rare fishes. They saw this repetitive action of right clicking to pull the line back in as automation I guess really not cool. Only had 15 bait left for the fish and 10 were in my pocket. RIP.

    Now we have this waiting room tunnel for PvP where you can't do anything but look around and you can get afked in there. With how long the que times are this is going to be a big issue as MMR gets balanced out.

    Define a "small break." Just cash out and log out if you need to step away for more than five minutes.

  • I believe the afk timer is 15min
    5min more for a short break.

    If you need a full time break, less then 30. Quit the game. Don’t waste space on the seas if your not gonna play.

  • I can understand maby 5 minutes longer. This is a much better idea than some claims that some have made about removing the inactivity timer, so i will get behind this idea.

    I do remember in my first week of playing, i got hungry and didnt have time to make a sandwich, which is the fastest meal i could think of making to avoid getting booted. Only missed it by maby a minute.

  • I don't have a big issue with the afk kick time........ i would however like to receive a "you have 1 minute before you get kicked for being afk" popup (similar to what GTA online has).

  • The AFK timer is way too short for a ton of reasons. Some misdions are very long, accomplishing anything takes at lest half an hour. 10 min is too short for a meal break, even many call of nature breaks. Its geared towards children not adults. These are all good reasons for making the timer 60 min.

    Arguing other MNOs have the same tertible timer or shorter timers is not justification for a too short timer.

    It is also currently broken, yesterday it logged me out in like 3 minutes and it is not the first time I felt like it was really fast. It is supposed to be 10 and that is too short, should be 15, especially considering the fact that you lose everything.

  • I also would like the timer to be longer as the game does take a while for most Tall Tales or adventures. But I think an hour is just too much time if someone is just sitting there as we have to remember it is an active multiplayer game and you are actively playing! I think somewhere around 30 minutes would make more sense.
