Rare! Please fix hitreg it is the most annoying thing of the whole game. i've played this game for countless hours and enjoied most of it, exept the dang hitreg. hitreg destroys my whole exsperience. and lately it has been very bad, i trippled sniped a person and NOT ONE BULLET REGED, this is too bad, and it does not feel like you are trying to fix it.
HitReg
@bigmanreirei Ahoy matey!
While it may not look like anything is being fixed - small steps are being made and the team are investigating the use of Hit Scan to improve this.
It's going to take some time as it will have far reaching changes to a lot of core gameplay mechanics and systems so it wont be an overnight fix but it is something that is actively being investigated and worked on.
hitreg was the most annoying a couple of years ago
imo we've gone far beyond it being the most annoying
cannon lag, silent boards, being teleported to random places, just general can't grab this and can't grab that type of stuff during combat. Gun doesn't shoot lol
hitreg is annoying but people can adapt to that at least to some degree when other stuff works but when everything in general related to combat works poorly it just becomes an rng luck outcome if it's competitive.
It shows how much some people were/are into this game, because for how long some pvpers lasted and how long sweaty play has been around in an environment where combat has such poor performance people realllly gotta like it to deal with those frustrations so long.
Season 8 is going to be interesting to watch for multiple reasons.
One is to see if it actually gets fighters fighting fighters which would be different than what activity has shown for years in adventure
and if it does become more of a fighter vs fighter environment, how will they react to these performance issues making much more of a difference.
As of now a skilled crew of 3 or 4 face the frustrations but when the opponent is on the other side of the skill gap it doesn't change much, it'll matter much more if things become more competitive.
I honestly don't remember it being this bad. Like I know they are trying to work on it but I've had some extreme misses with canon shots on krakens and it gives a hit marker. Then there's the slashing a keg and it doesn't explode lol.
I think it was like 2 or 3 podcasts ago they touched on the topic of hitreg and they kinda went into a bit of the maths involved which helps explain why it's a mess. They wanted to have a sense of realism to how combat felt but then its math upon math upon math to calculate out if a shot lands instead of a simpler method. Personally while some people might not like it... This is a game I would sacrifice that sense of realism and physicality for having a system that actually worked. It's about which method feels less bad since there will always be a trade off.
