I think we can all agree that the Devil's Roar is the last place we are going to visit during our adventures. This is why I propose to create an exclusive event for this area.
Name: Infernal Rift
Location: fixed point in Devil's Roar
Lore: a crack reveals a hidden temple of the ancients, abandoned due to an incredible power hidden within that no one should have access to.
At random moment a huge rift will open at the bottom of the sea in the Roar. Players will have to swim down to the bottom of the sea and swim into the crack. At the sides of the crack there will be several tunnels, through which the players will be able to swim. After swimming through the tunnels, the players will have to reach an underwater cave and move on from there.
First stage will be finding the way out of the tunnels. The players will find themselves in a maze of caves and will have to find one of the three ashen artefacts in the first area of the tunnels. The first artefact is a compas, which will be pointing in the general direction of the exit. It will be hanging from the neck of a skeleton. Second artefact will be a lantern, which will show memories of the ancients heading to the exit. The thrid artefact will be a map of the whole maze, which will show the location of the two artefacts from before, but not the exit. Of course, the players can try finding the exit by themselves, but there is a chance of getting lost. The some passages and tunnels will be blocked randomly with every event, so there is no way to know for sure. The exit from the first area will be through a giant stone door.
Second stage will take place in a huge hall, where they will have to find the pieces of a book, and shoot in the correct sequence of platforms on the ceiling and walls, based on the drawings in the book. One detail though, all of this will be during the lava level rising the second the first platform is activated. So players will have to be accurate and quick. After all the 3 sequences are activated correctly the final step will begin.
The players will have to quickly run to the middle of the hall on a platform, that will be rising with the lava level. A huge explosion will blow up the ceiling and the players will find themselves inside of the active volcano, that has jus risen from the seas (like the spire in the final tall tale.) The lava level will rise enough to take players to a new level with a large machine of the ancients - the Crucible. Its a huge forge that is needed to make a powerful artifact. Note: enemy players will be able to climb into the new area through a crack in the wall or through the roof of it. First of all, the players will need 5 planks as fuel to start the Crucible and then light it up. Afterwards, waves of lava skeletons will appear. They will be invulnerable to any damage, but will immediately turn to stone after receiving two buckets of water (there will be a pond nearby). These statues can be easily broken with the sword. There is a 50% chance for these skeletons to drop the molten heart, which will be dropped into the crucible to start the forge process. After 25 of those are delivered, the forge process will begin. Pirates will have to pour the molten hearts into the form, by turning the capstan. Afterwards, while the form is cooling off, the Crucible will have to be protected from the skeletons (9 waves). Every 3rd wave a mini boss - Ancient Colloss will spawn. These clay statues will drop red gems upon defeat. At this stage skeletons can damage the forge, destroying the form and having to restart the forging process all over again. If the Cruicble is defended, the players will have to incert the 3 red gems into the artifact and then collect it.
The artifact itself is the Staff of Flaming Fury. Pressing the LKM will launch a fireball, dealing damage and setting things on fire (creates holes in the ship hull). Holding LKM will launch a flow of fire, identical to the one of Ashen Skull. Holding RKM will generate an orange force field around the user, blocking all the damage from bullets, meteors and even canonballs. The user will not be able to move while in the force field, yet the enemies can damage him while in close range by going inside of it. The staff's power will be used up, with 3 minutes of non-stop firebreath ability, 1 minute of force field and 100 fireballs. After each used up gem it will disappear (3 gems in total). The gems can be randomly found in the Roar, and incerted into the staff to make it work again. The base price of the fully charged staff is 50k, and can be sold to Athena or Reapers only.
The after the staff is collected, the volcano will fall apart, leaving behind the loot:
- 1 staff of Flaming Fury
- 1 ashen athena chest
- 10 ashen captain's chests
- 10 ashen skulls
- 10 merchant ashen crates
- 5 skeleton captain's chests
- 2 ashen skulls
- 1 chest of rage
Hope you guys liked the idea, Im sure that if executed properly, this will make the Devil's Roar feel unique again. What do you guys think?
