Wrong ship & pirate name

  • Hi,

just connected a few minutes ago, and I've got a strange bug. When I press Tab to open the reputation menu, the name of my pirate, which is written in the upper right of the screen, is not mine. Plus, when I approach my ship, the banner that appears shows a ship name which is not mine, but which is commanded by the pirate mentionned in the reputation menu oO Same for the ship book, when I try to open it inside my sloop, both the commander's name and the ship's name are wrong. When I look to the reputation menu, everything seem correct though : plunder pass progression is mine, ship's statistics are mine (and HERE the right name is shown...), so the milestones seem to be correct.

I tried to disconnect, and verify if the names are correct in the pre-game menu, and they are : both my nick (Hyst3ro) and the name of my boat (Odysseus) are correct. But as soon as I reconnected inside the game, both where changed for different names that are not mine, and different from the first time. Tried to disconnect/reconnect and same again, with new names again.

Am I alone in this case ?

You're not alone, it's you and the streamers who have streamer settings on (hide names or something).

  • @lem0n-curry I'm not a streamer at all, but now you're saying that, this morning, I connected my Twitch account to the game... Could it be the reason why ? I did not changed my settings at all in the game until last night, and last night everything was correct. I'll look for the settings...

More non-streamers seem to have this issue. Perhaps there is a shortcut-key that is linked to it and accidentally pressed.

  • @hyst3ro In Settings, go to HUD, and uncheck/ turn off “Replace Gamertags”

The setting may have been turned on by default. Seems a lot of people are having the same issue recently

  • OK, just checked my settings and that was it : the gamertag setting was on "activated". As I didn't changed anything in the setting until last night, I suppose it may have been activated by default this morning when I linked my Twitch account to my SoT account (which is, in a way, not stupid at all as a safety setting for Twitch streamers).

Thanks a lot for the help !
