Want to add a 6 person ship to SoT? Make it the reward for completing a collaborative quest.
You must work with another crew to resurrect the fabled Dreadnought off the ocean's floor. At the quest's climax, all crews sacrifice their boats to revive the Dreadnought. Your ships sink and a new one emerges: designed for 6+ players, the Dreadnought is a floating fortress. It lasts until it's sunk, and it's visible on the map to all other crews. It is, essentially, a boss ship.
Players can decide to adventure on as normal, or undertake the Dreadnought's special quest. The special quest sees the 6+ person crew sail the ship from one side of the server to the other, while surviving an onslaught of Skellie ships.
This new mode would:
- Incentivize crews to work together.
- Provide a new goal for sessions, beyond grinding treasure.
- Give players a new type of ship to learn and sail.
- Challenge experienced crews (you'd have to learn the strengths, weakness, and playstyles of a whole new crew).
- Encourage people to use the in-game chat (to effectively communicate with their new team).
- Give the rest of the crews the chance to face off against SoT's smartest, most fearsome, most unpredictable boss yet.
