Pirate .STL Files for 3d printing

  • To any and all at RARE who could throw this in the melting pot of ideas and maybe make available our personal pirates as .STL files (or other 3D printing formats). Not for free, as i understand how hard the entire team works for the game and this community. I purpose making them available around $5-15 usd/euro/pounds per pirate. You could dress them and equip them as you see fit, go into a mysterious hut, and it would generate a high definition .STL file and send it to your connected email. Poses, emotes, actions, multiple pirates together in one file. and possibly............ Captain Ship Files....

  • I guess it would be great, for the very few that actually own a 3d printer.

  • @lafrules even if its just a file you can import to somewhere like heroforge would be awesome

  • This is a cool idea. Some without a 3-D printer might have access to one at a friend’s house, campus lab, or maker space. There’s places online that will print your object for you. Heck, Rare could team up with one of them to sell pirate 3-D prints.

No idea how technically doable it is, though.

  • I'm sure you probably can find it but would be very cool to export a 3d model of your pirate.
I'm sure someone can delve deep and find the model of your pirate from the main menu screen.

  • @lafrules

Like a lot of services, you can pay someone/business to do the printing for you for a small fee vs owning the printer at more expense.

  • @sn0kanon its absolutely doable. RARE has the keys to the gates as it were and is partnered with one of the biggest tech giants on the plant, Microsoft. They could create program to export your pirates 3D model with all cosmetics, scars etc into any of the common 3d printer file formats. Google is experimenting with creating real A.I. ..... Tell me we cant rip 3d assets from a games code. Not to mention it would be profitable as no hard merchandise is needed, just software and development. And might I add it would be fiscally irresponsible to not do this. #FreeMyPirate

  • I would love to 3d print the ships for use in tabletop game if I had one, would be even cooler to be able to 3D print your own and your friend's pirates.

  • OMG! Yes a thousand times! Please please please!
