Hey gang, old timer pirate here since release. I've had a long time playing this game back and forth with friends and such. I see this debate over and over and people keep bringing up the same arguments over and over about wether the game will die or not with a pve server implemented.
That's just crazy talk.
The only thing pvp brings in the game right now is a reduced quality in gameplay for new players and for the older players it's just the same frustration again and again.
Why not just put all the people that want to PVP hardcore or PVEPVP on a pvp oriented server whilst letting those who wanna take a calm day off work and sail with some friends having fun on a separate server? Sure you could say "But then all pvp players who only get loot via pvp won't get currencies and reputation cuz nobody on the server is doing lootruns". And while compelling as that argument is you have to think realistically. Yes that is a possibility but only if you implement a pve/pvp server in a bad way. Say for example. On the pvp oriented server loot has an increased value in Reputation and Gold instead of the pve server, that'd entice more players to take the risk of being sunk on the horizon. And on the pve server you shouldn't be entirely alone but instead have more co-operation going with alliances and such.
It's a friendly game most of the time, but in recent times (2021-2022) i've felt like people who pvp in the game don't do if for the loot anymore. They just hunt you down like dogs for the fun of it. Take people who don't fight back for instance, they are just trying to have a good time and it's being sullied by toxic people just wanting to sink them because they feel like it's a fun thing. Not stopping at anything just to sink the morale and ship alike of a different crew...
