Make a Top 5 of all the Adventures

  • List all the Adventures from worst to best, let's see which Adventures are the most liked/hated! :) Also feel free to explain your opinions! :)

5 - Forts of the Forgotten (Adventure 2)

This was the worst by far: zero lore, the story was literally just "Golden Sands folks have been kidnapped, go get them". Gameplay wasn't really interesting, would have felt better if the Adventure was introduced together with Sea Forts. We also had the RNG issue. The only good thing about this Adventure was the Cinematic Trailer, which was very good.

    4 - Shrouded Islands (Adventure 1)

This Adventure had a little bit of everything but was just the beginning of the story, the issue here is that I enjoyed getting hyped for the future of SoT more than I enjoyed the Adventure itself.

    3 - Lost Sands (Adventure 4)

More like a lost opportunity! The setting and the mood was very cool as there was a war between factions and player where the community could make a choice for the future of the Sea of Thieves, but the activities themselves were lackluster. I also found uninteresting the way we had impact over the war. If it wasn't for the mood and the curiosity I had towards the possible outcomes this would have been below Adventure 1.

    2 - The Shrouded Deep (Adventure 3)

This was a good one but a bit unstable, people who found immediately other crews to collaborate with surely had an amazing experience, me and my friend had no such luck tho: we had to hunt each meg by ourselves which was quite repetitive and time consuming as 80% of the time was spent just by sailing from point A to point B. The we had to hunt 2 other crews for the ritual, we found to sloop, one was a solo sloop with either a really new player or a non-english speaker as we couldn't get him to play the instrument for long enough, so we had to find another crew. The final battle was really cool but I wish all the process to get there were not such tedious.

    1 - The Forsaken Hunter (Adventure 5)

Played it today and loved it, this one is much better than all the other ones. There was a lot of lore and the Story was the best one by far, the cut scenes we also very well done! (Specially the last one on the dock! I didn't expect that quality in an Adventure). I both enjoyed the Adventure itself and got hyped for the next one. The only issue I had with this one was the amount of sailing, with less sailing this would have been perfect to me as it kinda ruin the pacing.
Also I would have preferred if the Cinematic Trailer said less this time, I think seeing Duke again would have had more impact if not shown in the trailer.

  • My list:

    5: Forts of the forgotten

    4: The Forsaken Hunter

    3: Shrouded islands

    2: Lost Sands

    1: Shrouded Deep

  • shrouded deep is the only one I'm not mostly indifferent on

I think it was the best and the worst.

I don't agree with the cooperation and I very strongly disagree with them killing off the ghost as a campfire tale for a couple of weeks of whatever activity they got out of it. The rarity of the pics and vids of the ghost, the rarity of sightings, real unfortunate to have go down what went down imo.

but outside of that it was great how they handled the meg hunting and the killer whale

Why is The Forsaken Hunter 4th? what didn't you like about the Adventure? (genuinely curious)

While it had REAL juicy lore drops, The gameplay was just sail from island to island and fight 3 weak phantoms to see a still image.

The only parts I liked more than The Forts Of The Forgotten were the brilliant last Cutscene and lore.

  • @thorumsu

Yeah, understandable. I do agree that there's a lot of sailing, luckily I didn't mind it too much as I was quite interested in the story.

  • 1 - The Shrouded Deep (Adventure 3)

By far, the best one. Cooperation with other crews, a server-wide hunt, a big naval battle. I get that some people had a so-so experience with this one and the meg hunt was indeed excessive without help, but all in all it was the most involved, unique adventure of the lot. To me, the other four all felt like second tier fetch quests I wouldn't have minded missing, while this one was almost a fully fledged Tall Tale worth playing.

    2 - Lost Sands (Adventure 4)

This one felt a bit like a missed opportunity, but I'm placing it second because on paper it was a very strong idea and at times it did work. Choosing a side was a novelty, and I loved how the Golden Sands mist would cover enemy ships hunting you on your way there, or aid you if you were the hunter. Better incentives to really push players to keep playing it throughout the duration so there's always a threat would've made it great.

    3 - Shrouded Islands (Adventure 1)

From here on I consider them all of similar quality, but I'm placing this third because of the mist factor again—although I never ran into any fun trouble while playing it, unlike Lost Sands—and because it was the first one.

    4 - The Forsaken Hunter (Adventure 5)

I didn't find this one particularly special, but I do give it a point for the lore aspect of it. Since I never played Arena, the plot twist at the end didn't do much for me, however I appreciate the idea and I'm really hoping it hints at a future role for the Sea Dog Tavern in Adventure Mode in the future.

5 - Forts of the Forgotten (Adventure 2)

Yeah, weakest one for me since there's virtually no difference between the adventure itself and simply heading to a sea fort on your own any given day to dispatch some ghosts. While doing one of these timed-adventures, I'm expecting a perhaps not too elaborate scenario, but certainly something at least somewhat different to the everyday experiences in the game.
