Yesterday I experienced the worst type of spawnkilling. There's were these two guys in pl hideout and they just kept spawnkilling me over and over because I spawn in the exact same place everytime. This is utterly broken and needs to be fixed. Not even a way to get back to your ship, getting blundied in the back as soon as you spawn. Please address this as it's not enjoyable at all.
Spawn camping in Pirate Legend Hideout.
I've seen that happen like 3 times ever and that's with more play hours than most.
Just snag a new server, it's so rare you aren't likely to run into it again any time soon.
I don't think it should be encouraged but I also don't think it's something that needs to be changed.
People can be killed while messing with chests on their boat and chests in shops, not really any different in reality.

I can't remember but I'm pretty sure that's what happened back in the day. I dunno why they changed it.@barek-thorne said in Spawn camping in Pirate Legend Hideout.:

Different locations for spawning in the hideout would work as well, at the dock, tavern &c though that wouldn't make it easy to get to the exit, but at least possible.
If this would happen to me at the start of a session, I would just change servers. On the other hand, if it's when trying to get higher tier for Athena Emissary, this would take the fun out of the session for me. IMO this would fall into bullying or at least repeating same action over and over again trying to get someone out of a server.
This happened to me yesterday. I wasn't spawn killed, but while browsing the shop items, I was killed by another player. After leaving the ferry I noticed I spawned back in front of the portal. The dude who killed me (I assume) arrived there just after I came back, wheather his plan was to spawn kill me, I don't know. I
killed him before he could kill me again but I thought at the time that it would have been easier to just spawn back on your ship or at least in the tavern.
I guess it makes sense though, if you wasn't done with what you had to do in the PL Hideout, which I wasn't, then it saves you having to open the floor and run down again. But maybe there should be a choice of where you spawn.
This situation reeks of not realizing that it's fairly easy to just not deal with it.
If you're in the PL Hideout, you're most likely either starting your session, or ending your session. Just leave the game and either get a new server where there's a very unlikely chance someone is in the PL Hideout.
Spawning back on the ship is just straight up not friendly to people without SSDs, which applies to low-end PC players and Xbox One users.
Besides all that, this is a situation that has a simple solution, and if you're lucky, you can just walk backwards into the portal to go back to the tavern you entered from.

Staying on a server with a crew that would camp the legend hideout isn't a productive decision anyway.
If anything it's useful to know a crew like that is on the server so a new server can be found. Nothing to gain from staying on a server once that threat has been identified.

Or you are getting a new voyage to continue leveling up your emissary and not in the mood for a Thieves' Haven Run. In which case a new server just wasted you an hour and perhaps the Athena loot you still have on your ship.

Only if you want to continue with the fight in the hideout, else it saves a lot.

Don't know if that's possible when you have two shooting at you, but worth a try I guess...
The solution as a player is simply to say goodbye to your inventory and alt f4 reconnect.
The easiest solution from the devs would be a 1 second invulnerability in the hideout, so we keep the spawnpoint and there is enough time to go out.
And finally, it wouldn't be that bad to make the area a no pvp zone, like the ferryor inside the Arena Tavern. Anyway it was never good for combat, without even a proper ammo box.@linksyx said in Spawn camping in Pirate Legend Hideout.:

@lem0n-curry Yeah but reloading that way isn't even known by all players, and the point was more about saying that this area is not a place made for pvp so that wouldn't be that bad to make it a no weapon zone.

Gotta have a way to stop other crews blocking the way to the pirate lord though 😁.
Spawning on your ship (or the tavern if you haven't yet set sail) seems to be the easiest way to implement to counter being spawncamped without adapting other parts or introducing possible bugs.

Personally I would find it silly to not choose a Thieves' Haven run for emissary grade or anything really productive for a standard Athena's Fortune voyage.
Secondly if you're on PC, just Alt+F4 (to reload onto your ship forcefully) or bring in a crewmate to help you. Can we stop acting like we're meant to do everything alone and instead just make a pal or two on these seas? A lot of situations completely screw over a solo (especially on bad hardware), but that is a choice of one's self to set sail like that. The solution is probably going to be out of your comfort zone, but it's a more ideal solution than fixing situations that already have solutions in place.

I totally missed the alt-f4 & re-connect in your earlier post, didn't cross my mind earlier either - that would be a solution - better than switch servers when you have something worthwhile on the ship as solutions posted by others. I didn't posted with the thought of being a solo though.
Only doing Thieves' haven Runs gets boring - my crew likes to switch things up and those Runs are not at the top of the list for getting Athena rep.
Don't know why you got no upvotes for this... Unlike regular spawn camping that you can scuttle to get out of this is an actual problem with no fix.
That being said I am almost 2k hours into the game and never ran into this yet but I recognize it as a clear problem. The thing is this can be a very small fix (like changing the time in game of gold rush to display your timezone...) that can be a huge QoL fix. Don't know why the community is willing to be lenient on such a simple fix to vastly improve the game at times.
So many choices here, random spawn in PL lair, I frames just in PL lair on spawn to let you run out, spawn you in tavern and not PL lair...
Never happened to me but this is an issue that cna be frustrating and needing only a small fix...
