Xbox microphone issues?

  • I love this game. Not being able to talk to anyone besides Xbox party chat is destroying my fun lol. I cannot hear nor talk to anyone. Checked all my settings 100 times. Made sure my age is correct and old enough on the Microsoft page. I've tried different mics, I've started the game not being in a party chat with the mic ready. I've even deleted and reinstalled the game while also defaulting all my settings back to normal if I had accidently changed any. I tried creating a toggle button for the mic and nothing. This is a problem in the sea of thieves game for Xbox I've ran into several players having the same issues so there forced to join Xbox chat parties. Please please anyone that can help. I'm desperate. It sucks not being able to megaphone to a running ship "We've been trying to reach you about your ships extended warranty". Any help is greatly appreciated 👍

You may already be aware of this, but since your post doesn't mention it: push to talk and the like doesn't work with Xbox party chat because it's a completely separate system from Sea of Thieves. Rare can't do anything about it because party chat is a Microsoft thing.

If you're in Xbox party chat, then your audio is kept completely separate from the Sea of Thieves voice chat system; you can't hear (or be heard) by anyone in game chat. If you want to use Sea of Thieves in game chat, you have to manually swap from party to game chat from within the party menu (at which point anyone still in party chat won't be able to hear you). Unfortunately, you won't get much engagement from other players even via the in-game chat because so many Xbox crews use party chat to communicate.

  • @limbicfanatic I run mainly adventure and yea I understand the party chat changes. I've been playing for years and was working fine then just stopped.. thank you for the help

  • Trying to get your mic to work in this game is such a frustration at times, especially if you're on PC not just Xbox. There are so many settings to just go awry from network related ones, app permission settings, privacy settings, the game's own settings and default windows sound settings.

    I'm so glad mine works.

As for you Xbox man, make sure you swap to game chat in the xbox party. I also know you can't be having some sort of firewall blocking it on your router.
