Fighting and getting sunk is part of the game. It's a PvPvE game after all.
It has nothing to do with getting trolled.

I play on console. I played for 3 hours this morning never seeing another ship. Yesterday 8 hours. I was boarded once told them I was doing the feast event, offered them food and they left. Saw a ship at outpost. Told them I was logging and to loot my ship. They said thanks looted it and I logged. I was sunk trying to help another pirate take out a bunch of skeleton ships by a suicide kegger lol. I came back. The saved and protected my loot. It’s easy to avoid confrontation if you so desire.

  • @apexxis6687 It's called the Devil's Roar

  • Not sure how you’re playing the game. If you want to be left alone it’s not all that hard to find an empty part of the map and just chill. I just spent 4 hours fishing with my buddies and only ever saw two other ships and they didn’t even get close.

  • what are your goals?

    gold and chill?
run order of souls emissary and sail around sessions sinking all skelly sloops and checking loot water and shipwrecks and islands for gems and skulls and skelly captains for skulls.
Generally speaking you will typically find more things that can be sold to souls than the rest

    gold hoarder?
rinse and repeat gold vault missions but just sell any keys that aren't mermaids/devils ridge/ crooks hollow/ crescent
when you do the vault just get the main chest and the captains chests. Less risk and in the long run a better use of time

merchant? shipwrecks are easy and fast, stick with the higher value items to reduce time and keep moving

    just want to hang out?
do whatever you want and don't collect treasure or use an emissary then you have nothing to lose at all.

    efficiency efficiency efficiency

you never have to fight or be good at fighting in this game all you have to do is master your session by making as few choices that don't make sense as possible.

    consistency over impressive.

consistently turning in loot is always better for someone in your shoes than fancy stuff like stacking loot or getting involved in screen shot or highlight stuff. Less losses with less impressive hauls is long term more efficient than risky hauls with more losses.

Don't prioritize anything less than 500ish gold in base value. It clutters your ship and it slows down production long term

Good stuff needs to be organized for fast selling and sold before anything else

No big islands. Small islands or no islands
Keep moving. The more you move the easier life is. Tucking becomes a non issue and getting ambushed is rare.

Do all this until you gain confidence and results start to support the confidence. Then do whatever you wanna do.

  • I know the sloop duo GH grade 5 I ran into this afternoon wishes there was an offline mode. Imagine getting rolled by a solo because you were foolish enough to store a mega keg in the crow's and let them get close.

Players make mistakes that get them sunk. You don't need water wings, you need to learn and adapt.

  • Hi all, here are the teams thoughts on PVE/PVP:

Given the debate surrounding PvE vs PvP has been going for some time, the team wanted to address it, laying out our vision and the design intent of the game. Sea of Thieves at its heart has and always will be a shared-world adventure game, and this is something that is not planned to change in the future.

In Episode 2 of the Sea of Thieves Official Podcast, a nuanced discussion surrounding the community debate took place with a number of the senior team involved in the creation of the game.

With our position on this topic now clear, the discussion surrounding PvPvE is no longer relevant to the Steam Discussions. Having closely followed the discussions that have taken place surrounding this topic, we feel that it no longer has a place within this forum as it has, at times, led to unwarranted hostility between members of the community.

To prevent this, we will be locking all past threads discussing this and will keep a close eye out for any emerging threads that revive the subject. We ask that users do not repeat post about this topic as any following this thread will be removed and may result in action being taken against offending accounts.

If future developments in the game warrant new discussions, then we will of course open this up for the community to freely discuss. If this happens then any such conversations will be closely monitored to gather feedback, but will in no means be an opening for personal attacks to take place again.

That being said, we will be dropping anchor here.
