My girlfriend doesn't want to play for such an ugly pirate. Add the ability to create beautiful female characters.
Female characters should look prettier
All that your girlfriend needs to do , Sir, is spend some time in the Pirate Generator... i have seen Beautifully and stunning Pirates of the female side in this game ...Yes , i agree , most of them are ...a bit ...rough but there are truely ravashing Beauties in that Infinite Pirate Generator .
" How long will it take her " : you ask, well , no one can tell...i searched two hours to find the Pirate i liked , after that he stayed with me , and that's three and a half year so let her spend some time and she will find her , i mean the one that she wants to represent her...There is a Pirate for everyone's taste , it just takes some or sometimes a lot of rolls...

It feels like you've never played games where the characters are really beautiful. It is impossible to have a dialogue with you.
Beautiful in the context of your suggestion is just a developer implementing attraction preferences into character design. Attraction preferences that are not universal nor relevant to the character design in this game.
This game was intentionally built on random character design. People can spend time trying to find a random character that fits their personal preferences but your view of beauty or anyone's preference isn't what the goal was or is with how characters are presented in the game.
Not saying that i hate this system in the slightest just not a big fan of self righteous people, you can absolutely say that, well, thats the intention like many other games do but potato people arent pretty.
Im not upset with the randomizer at all, we do need to get zooming and some filters like gender skin tone and weight but its overall great.
But would be cool if people would stop acting like there is no standards for beauty, and how about enough with gatekeeping how players should play? Not everyone wants to look like ogres! Some people likes the goofy character or rusty one but not everyone, as for OP, tell her to purely focus on her face and body (and scars if she cares).
Just keep rolling the dice and hope for the best.I got most of the details that im looking for in a character but it took a while..

I assume matey that this is the general you, by which you mean all who have disagreed with you. By it's very nature, that is a dialogue.
You posted something on the forum, but other people disagree with you. Such is life.
@faceyourdemon I think genuinely that this is the main consensus here as you and others have said: keep rolling the rng that is the infinite pirate generator and wait for something you like.
It's definitely possible to find 'attractive' pirates (as well as truly grotesque ones) within the Infinite Pirate Generator, it just takes quite a bit of time. I used to spend a lot of time with it trying to see the scope of it's creations.
Here's a tip, the pirate selector is bound to your fps, so if you're on pc you could switch to windowed mode (alt+enter) and really boost your fps. Just find a sweet spot between fps and fidelity, so you can quickly skip past the ugly ones and reroll. I find that I can judge every pirate that gets generated in like 10 seconds when getting around ~120fps, then reroll again; so that's like 2000 pirates in an hour. Of those 2000, I would say you would find 30 or so pirates that could be considered attractive, and around 10 that would be comically deformed. Sounds like bad odds but it doesn't really take that long if you know what you're doing, as well as depending on your standards.
I love the ipg and hope they never change it :P
Ahoy!
Took me 16 hours and 4 potions to find my character but I love her. Yes it's a lot of work but there truly is a pirate out there for everyone. I just wouldn't advise loading up to chose a pirate when you only have a few hours to play.
Settle down, grab a cup of tea, roll, reroll, mark your favourites as you go and eventually you will meet your pirate. And that pirate is different for everyone. What one person likes another may not, just like in real life.
Thanks,
j0toro@sshteeve Yeah of course but pretending like there isnt any beauty standards is false, and here its more difficult to get a good looking one.
For many players it is important (like me! I swear ill spend hours on a character even if ill end up play that game only once and never get back to it..)
Gatekeeping is jus so annoying, and does makes someone not to want to make a dialogue.@neon-ic0n Wait, no hold on. Window mode shouldn't make your fps faster, it should slow it down compared to native fullscreen because it renders your background stuff. I've always, always found native fullscreen to give me higher fps.
Is there something that specifically gets disabled in Window mode vs native fullscreen that reverses this for SoT?
@faceyourdemon ofc there will always be the more vocal of our community who face conversation in a certain way, but I wouldn't say anyone is gatekeeping.
Rare made a decision, it's been that way for over three years, why would it change now? That's what I don't get about the points in this topic tbh!
Anyways, said my piece, I'll be heading off to other shores.
I do want to interject here and bring up the reminder that everything in Sea of Thieves is designed to be slightly off or wonky. That's specifically they style and it extends to the pirates as well.
Sea of Thieves is always wonky, never perfect in it's art style.
The IPG has been around for several years now and there is a potion you can buy to change the look of your pirate if you don't like it, with zero data loss.
Some people want a full blown character customizer but I'm not one of them. I get tired of horrifically warped/twisted skins or everyone looks the same meta syndrome.
I actually very much enjoy the IPG.
It makes it very easy to use and select your pirate.
@wsurftvveeds MS store doesn't, but Steam version does. Or so I've been told. I don't play from Steam.

SoT is insidious for making players pay for expectations from other games and it starts with the IPG. It's purpose is to get players out if their comfort zone and consider a different kind if toon.
Personally, I love how each pirate generated, mundane or exceptional, looks like they make their living at sea.
Beauty is for the vain, find an interesting toon.@spanden7692 said in Female characters should look prettier:

Players need to stop comparing Sea Of Thieves to other games and trying to make it more like those. That’s how we’ve ended up with so many samey, cookie cutter AAA games flooding the market.
The real gems are the ones that stand out in an ocean of mediocracy. Sea of Thieves is one of those gems. It’s not perfect, it has many flaws, but it’s at least trying to be different. The design of the pirates is part of its artstyle and unique identity.
