@lord-spark-0 said in I think its time to talk about the Xbox One and Sea of Thieves.:
I think that the devs are doing a great job these days adding on to the game with their recent updates.
But, the game has ballooned from like a 30-40 gb game to 60-70 gb game. (This is different on different platforms but the below point still matters). I'm sure this will continue to grow over time as more things get added.
With all that, comes more tasks and things to process. It becomes more complex.
I think with 2013 technology, the Xbox One might have run its course and this game.
I suggest that Rare stop supporting this platform so the Series X and PC gamers can really get more SoT later.
The past 3 years we have had complaints like Controller V Mouse/Keyboard. And load times where SSD M.2's will load way faster from the ferry (which they do).
LOL, game file size has absolutely nothing to do with the performance on the console. Furthermore the install size is nowhere near the 60-70 GB size on the One like you are claiming - it is closer to 35-40GB (at work now so would have to check on my console once I got home). It is much larger on the Series X because of those additional 4K textures that are not necessary on the One. Many other games have install sizes around 100GB (Red Dead Redemption 2, Halo: MCC, and CoD Warzone are just a couple of examples) and they suffer no performance issues on the One. And let's not forget most of the heavy calculations are done server side and not on the console itself (such as all the wave calculations and hit detection) so older consoles are definitely not holding it back in that regard. Come back when you get some knowledge about how computers actually work instead of spouting uneducated nonsense like this to support your idea.
Support for the game on the One is not going away anytime soon due to the new consoles not having enough of a base yet to support this, partially due to the availability of the consoles during the chip shortage and that it is still very early in the new console cycle (not even being a year into it yet). So save your elitism.
