Retain Emissary Flag on ship "Despawn"

  • I am only talking about the despawn after being beached for X minutes here.

It can be a big cause of frustration for players (especially new ones) when their ship apparently sinks for no reason and hours of work can be lost.

The loot is all recoverable but the emissary grade is not. I can't see this being abused (due to the long wait for anything to happen) and would just be a quality of life feature to reduce frustration.

    Thoughts?

  • Frankly. The flag isn’t that big of a deal of losing. You can regain it back (grade)
Especially if it’s not even grade 5

But the idea to reattach the flag when sunk has been requested.
It’s an idea but one that does need something

It's your own fault for not listening for the audio cues that your ship was "stuck." It produces a very distinctive "grinding" sound.

  • @blam320 Never happened to me personally. Just know it catches a lot of new players out - how are they supposed to know groaning means the ship disappears?

That's not a sound your ship should be making in the first place. If it is you've done a terrible job parking.

  • @blam320 still not a reason for a new player to expect their ship to disappear though lol

  • @wsurftvveeds if the game is making a sound, it means something. If a player cant figure that out, that's on them.

  • @captain-coel well the sound obviously means the ship is on the bottom. That doesn't mean the ship will dissapear.

  • Consider it a learning experience; I've never heard of a ship despawning on a player for a second time, as they learn from the first.

  • Or, instead of adding a mechanic that would undoubtedly get abused, simply add a warning similar to the ones that pop up when you're a new player. Ya know, the ones that say "your mast has taken damage, use a plank to repair it" or whatever that warning says.

It could be simple "Your ship is sitting on the sea bed as indicated by the grinding/creaking sounds. Move it before it disappears! You have 5 minutes!"
