Twitch Drop notifications?

  • Hello!

Is there a way to be notified when a game is enabling Drops on Twitch? I was unaware of the recent Campaign, and I missed yesterday's Golden Phoenix Cannons... :(

I did get an email from SoT about the Pirate Emporium Summer Sale on Thursday, one day before this weekend's drops started. The Twitch Drops campaign would have been a nice bit of info to include in the body of that email.

    Sadge.

  • I'd suggest joining their discord here and typing "+droplist". They update that when new drops are coming so you'll be notified ahead of time.

You can also ask in a partner's chat and if the mods are informed of the drops ahead of time like they usually are, they'll tell you the next drop dates.

  • There's also their Twitter account which does notifications, you can find out on their YouTube community page which if you're subbed will show in your feed, you can check the Website of course, you can check Twitch, you can check here, naturally, and you can always look on Reddit. On the bright side, at least you only missed one, this round of drops was supposed to go out last week so it could have been worse!

  • Thanks for the replies and the information!

I do follow them on Twitter, and now I see that they did mention Twitch Drops in a reply to their own tweet about "Sea of Thieves Television".

These options seem like I'd have to subject myself to a lot of notification noise for their occasional Twitch Drops. I guess that I don't need them that bad. Har Har!

Thanks again for the info. I do appreciate it.

  • @skrapshak a thing you can do keep some of the notifications closed out is by making your own discord server and following their drops announcement page through their discord.

If you do that when they announce new events including drops you'll get notifications on your phone and you won't need the noise from twitter.

  • @aribalam Ah. That's a good idea!.

    I'll give that a shot.

    Thanks for the tip!

  • Without fail, I always manage to forget about twich drops

    -_-

First ones I've ever missed. Really sucks because I'm on my last leg for this game.

Really wanted the final set for the gilded phoenix because the barrels are long barrels and the set looked nice. Except now I missed the set which is going to egg on my completionist side.

I've been slowly playing this game less and less because of the grind and the constant having to do more of it for cosmetics. Then there was the constant need to make sure I don't miss out on a twitch drop.

For a game that is ALLLLLL about cosmetics. A majority of the cosmetics are locked behind time limited nonsense or exclusive content.

There is no reason for me to play the game anymore. The point of the game is suppose to earn the gold to get the cosmetics, except the cosmetics are released by completing events and watching twitch drops. Whats the point if gold doesn't get you the cosmetics??

Probably be a year or probably never when they release these again, not to mention the capstan for the obsidian set which is the only piece that a majority of people are missing.

  • They should have notifications that can be turned on and show up just like the deed stuff

notifications would include double gold weekends, active gold rush times, any sort of game related alert maybe tied to SOT_Support public statements and active twitch drops

might as well incorporate it all into the game for people that want to voluntarily receive it, no reason for any of it to be a secret or a pain to find. Optional in game alerts helps everyone

what would be awesome is a pirate radio station which could be the sea dog tavern

when you sail by it you can get current happenings and updates via audio that could be turned down or off.

get a few quality pirate voice actors for some pre-recorded messages. It's just to give general alerts so it wouldn't be a huge project they could spend a day coming up with informative but quality verbal notifications. They don't need dates or changes it's just to say that something is active at that moment or having issues at that moment.

  • @xultanis-dragon You can sail with me. I'll let you use it. 😅

At least you didn't muss out of the Frozen Horizon gloves and belt like I did... 😢

lol, I would take you on the offer but then I would you need you everytime I logged on.

Seriously never liked twitched drops. They are pointless as no one really watches the streams, they just log in and leave it running. All it does is fluff SoT viewed numbers on twitch.

I sound like a broken record but I really loved this game during launch. Everything was so simple. I wanted a cosmetic?? Get loot, turn it in. Oh hey I don't have it unlocked yet?? Oh wait its tied to rep. So what I do hasn't changed. Get loot and turn it in.

AWESOME!!! I can play at my own pace and just do whatever I want with no direction.

Then events came out, then twitch drops came out, and its been nothing but "if you want cosmetics, you have to do this" - well what if I don't want to do that and instead just play the game?? "Sorry if you just want to play the game then no cosmetics for you, you HAVE to play the way we tell you or no cosmetics"

I hate daily's and weekly's in EVERY game. Companies have moved from making a fun game to preying on a human condition. In a sense its almost as bad as what loot boxes were, almost a form of addiction. Humans don't like missing out on things they consider a deal. Thats what daily's and weekly's are. A check list so that you can get something that would otherwise take significantly longer to do normally. Extra XP, or Extra currency, or whatever.

Whats funny is I had a crew mate that was all for events and what not. We had a lot of discussions over these types of gaming practices.

I remember for like the first week of Season 1 we got everything done in like the first 3 days and I'll never forget what he said.

"Geez its so nice to finally just get a chance to play the game without having to commendation hunt constantly" - I asked him why he said that when he was so for events before.

Said he finally understood what I was talking about. That when he finally got to play for a few days freely and that the notion that he wouldn't have to worry about another event for 3 months, he said the game just felt so much better with the knowledge that he could just waste time in the game if he wanted. That he felt free to play and enjoy the game.

That was of course before RARE started to pump out more events in between events for the Seasons.

Now granted we both agreed that yes the game does need content.

We just argued on the validity of which was better.

My stance - Daily's and Weeklys are bad. Just release one HUUUGE content update every 8 months or so. New content, new goals for players to reach. No time limited nonsense.

His stance (at least used to be) - Weekly's and daily's gave players something to do every day. Without it there would be nothing to do in the game.

He finally understood my point though. We aren't having fun though, we are just getting on to get a commendation and thats it. Any time we are strapped for time we can just leisurely enjoy the game we have to chase down a commendation which makes the game more stressful and not more fun.

God I really do run on and on don't I??

They should also just put whatever was on twitch drops into the pirate emporium and give players a chance to at least buy what they missed out on. That way players still feel good about catching the twitch drops.

Watch twitch drops, get stuff for free.

Don't want twitch drops, then at least you get a chance to buy the cosmetics.

    Great idea right??
