Idea: Recolored old school Reaper's Flag for the purpose of alerting other players on the map seeking to do, or willing to help others complete Glitterbeard.
Additional suggestion: Alert participants flying the flag when 8 players have been achieved, such as an audible cue like brief line from Becalmed, and/or have the flags either on the mast or the map table glow.
Reason: The extreme difficultly to accomplish it organically without having to seek out an alliance server or discord. The older the event becomes, the more difficult it will be to find others still wanting to do it. Also because the usual and appropriate response to directly approaching a ship is for them to attack and sink you.... repeatedly (Sea of THIEVES). Also most everyone has a time schedule and can't be on for hours on end fruitlessly searching the map which only has a handful of ships. If one is lucky enough to spot a ship most of those players are already busy on voyages when they are approached so they refuse, or again, think you are coming in to steal their loot and will sink you. Once they finish their objectives they might...might, be willing to help, but by then they probably can't find you and usually won't put much effort into finding you. By introducing a Glitterbeard flag there is also the additional benefit of being able to show your support and willingness to help with Glitterbeard, while still using your favorite ship set.
Reason for additional suggestion: Galleons are a rare sight on the sea, it's mostly sloops or brigs, so viewing the alliance flags on the map table does not inform the players if they have finally found enough people - or they need to keep searching. An audio or visual cue when 8 had been found would greatly help.
Possible cons?: All other players, particularly Reapers will be able to find the Glitterbeard ships. However most attempting Glitterbeard are usually not hauling much loot at the time due to the risk involved in approaching other ships for help.
My Backstory: My friends contacted me through a voice chat app and informed me they found a second ship, a brig, willing to do Gliterbeard and if I could jump onboard, they would only need a couple more ships. I had been trying on my own and had completely given up and went so far as to join an alliance server but hadn't arranged to be in a group yet. While searching around for another ship, we just happened upon newly spawned galleon using the Glitterbeard sails so attempted to approach them. Eventually when they realized we were not there to fight, they told us they just found the first journal in the tavern, hoisted the sails for the first time and didn't know anything else about it. We made an alliance and then had to meet with the 1st ship that joined the group to tell them the current number and ask if they spotted anyone. They had but they didn't speak English. Another one we had met attacked us and also verbally and forcefully refused. So we kept searching around, agreeing that if one of us found the correct amount we were to sail directly to Plunder as a signal to the others. We were attacked again by another ship before finally getting our last ship. We arrived just after nightfall and the storm was making landfall. We kept getting killed by lightning and skellies and revived by crew so we were all low on health when we finally arrived at the tree.... and why are there hardly any barrels nearby there? We resorted to digging up worms to replenish our health, and vomiting all over.
After completing that.... ordeal, for the lack of a better word, I have been considering different ways to make it easier. It was a frustratingly difficult to find 8 random people to complete it without seeking help from social media sites or an alliance server. And more than one of our group expressed relief instead of awe and reverence. Even one exclaimed "finally!" when it was over. I don't think that was the intention of the tribute. It is suppose to be a touching memorial. It is very beautiful and so much heart went into creating it... but its meaning was lost to the stress of just getting there.
