Fix the damn servers please

  • The night went fine until an hour into the session we couldn't claim any of our merchant crates after purchasing them. The merchant would give us the option and then not let us pick them up. That was annoying enough until we finished our session with athena fort loot and as we were turning in our haul, we merged servers. But apparently we merged into a server where there was already a boat parked where we were, and the game completely despawned our boat, and then didn't allow us to interact with either our loot that had either fallen in the water or was suspended in the air, or any of the things on the other crew's ship. Naturally our ship respawned on the other side of the map and by the time we made it back they had sold everything.

I know fixing the server functionality isn't done by magic but this is by far the worst thing that's happened to me in SoT. Disconnects is one thing, just straight up clipping and despawning your boat on a server merge, allowing a fresh crew to turn in all your stuff is agonizing.

  • Fact. I am one of those people who stay on the outpost for a while after the sellings are done, the ship is sunk and the crew is gone. I just like the extreme contrast of how loud the game is with friends and how silent and peaceful it suddenly turns when you throw out your fishing rod before you leave aswell.
However the whole server situation is worse than ever before. I´m around the seas for around a year now and it never happened until february/march that I chill at an outpost and suddenly a new players ship spawns there. And if that has never happened to you you have no idea how long its already there until the player belonging to it spawns aswell. At first I always tugged and thought this is fun and games until I realised: this happens all day every day. I´m already totally used to checking my ship for tuggers right after spawning which just shouldn´t be a thing in my opinion.

  • @gobbelgobbel I started playing in beta, played consistently for two years, and I'm now returning after a year off. Never had anything like this happen, and nothing like you described either, with a player ship just spawning right there next to you.

  • It’s real. They changed the method of keeping players in a server. I have watched several ships parked at an outpost and despawn.. And a replacement ship spawned in its place. Have you noticed that when you spawn in a new server sometimes you run to your boat and you see the previous ships loot in the water, as well as cargo and supply crates and even its emissary?

  • Absolutely wild they haven't fixed it yet. How long as it been like that?

    Side note: apparently you can't say b o n k e r s on the forum????
