Barrel hide emote and the other hiding emotes needs fixing

  • I'll be as short as possible, it's a hiding emote so it should be useful for hiding, but right now it is not. There are 2 main issues with it and can be fixed

-The barrel is significantly bigger than any other barrels on a sloop and just a little bigger on a brig.
-The barrel sways and ruins the job it was created for.

The other hiding/tucking emotes started to behave strange since exactly the 18th February ( 2.0.22 ) update.

While using the Hide or Deck hide emotes on top of the sails (not in the crows nest) makes the character fall after few minutes while the ship is sailing.

The hiding emotes started to be affected by the sway effect of the sea, at first, the hiding emotes were making the character move with the ship during sailing for example, now the character moves separately from the ship which makes the player look like it's glitching.

I will end my point with two recent examples: I was hiding in the typical sloop spot on the right side of the ship while this guys was solo-ing the Ashen Winds. His wheel was about 10 degrees to starboard so the ship was slowly rotating to starboard.

After 2-3 minutes of perfect tucking I came back with my tuck snack and found my character turned about 45 degrees to the right. What happened is that my character stayed in the exact same place while the ship was rotating therefore making my character look glitched and exposed.

Second time this happened I was on top of the sails using the Hide emote near the center of the mast right under the crows nest on a Brig and after someone changed the angle of the sails my character stayed in the same place again, looking like it glitched and fell still emoting then stopping after I hit the deck.

It is clearly an issue with the game mechanics and it makes hiding really hard and ruins the fun. I really hope this will get fixed.

  • The hide emotes are mostly for fun, not for serious hiding. If it works it's hilarious, but they aren't intended to be foolproof.

They aren't going to take the sway out, because that's how all of the emotes work since your character sways automatically with ship motion.

  • It pretty much is only useful for island tucking.

The barrel is actually the exact same size, it's just a little bit in the air...
Also the sway is fine, so you are recognizable a bit...when people don't watch carefully, they won't find you anyway

  • OP:
"The barrel sways and ruins the job it was created for."

    Emote description:
    "Perfect for stealthy island visits."

    People:
"It sways on ships, fix it!"

The devs knew it's gonna sway on ship, hence the description. It's just an emote after all, it's not its own separate tool or mechanic. just a visual trick, nothing extra.

    This. ☝

    It's working exactly as intended.

Call it a handicap. It’s designed that way.
So nothing you said makes it bad. Just a player upset that tucking isn’t 100% which sadly....no sorry which funny is by design.

It is clearly an issue with the game mechanics and it makes hiding really hard and ruins the fun. I really hope this will get fixed.

Not an issue. Hiding isn’t suppose to be easy. Especially when...it’s easy to find tuckers with a blunder randomly thrown.

If they “fix” it will ruin the fun for others.
