Fix the spawns/backspawns

  • Haven't had to start a thread for feedback issues much before (islands not loading/infinite black screen comes to mind back in 2019) but this one after 3 years has finally worn me down. Players back-spawning well after their ship has sunk and de-spawned. Once the bell tolls, that's it. You should hold the crew coming from the ferry in load screen until their new ship spawns. This would also help the crew should they want to come back for revenge by spawning their ship sooner.

Also, myself and others spawning back in from the ferry before the ship has sunk and dropped about a mile away from it in the water...just outside of mermaid spawn but not close enough to swim and save it. We should spawn on deck if the ship is still up...this bug has happened and cost many fights but the past 24 hours has cost me two!

This CAN'T be that hard of an issue to fix if you put 1-2 guys on it and go over the coding...

  • Agreed, it can be quite frustrating. I think it’s actually more of a server issue where the game isn’t sending the “oh no your ship is gone” signal fast enough and it lags behind the actual situation.

While I can understand that, it takes about 30 seconds to despawn a sunk ship. I am talking about back-spawns dropping in the water another 30-60 seconds after that initial 30 seconds. No way a server should have over a minute of lag time in deciding where someone spawns back in... Most people's latency at highest is 200ms before the game becomes unplayable.

  • @kommodoreyenser true. Perhaps it’s in the games design itself. When you die, you’re teleported bellow the map. When you come back, you’re teleported back. The game has to get the data and render everything that’s happening back on the ship. If that takes around 60 seconds, then everything will have rendered and been up to date, but then the ships gone because you triggered the teleport while it was still there. Same with the mermaids actually. Just a theory though!
