Proximity Audio glitch... we heard everything across a map

  • last night while running a galleon on PC, Came a cross another Galleon, a fight ensued we were the victors. And both crews had proximity chat on, and we ended up killing three of them. The fourth however, swam back to his Mermaid, all the while he was in communication with his crew and I was chasing him and of course I could hear him. However After he hitched a mermaid... we could still hear him! He sounded like he was on our ship in the Captains quarters. But he clearly was not, as he was talking about sorting his crews new cannon balls and fruit... and we could hear their plan and plot to come right back for us (which I appreciate, cause we always do the same when we sink) BUT we could hear the entire plan and scheme... and were overly prepared for them and sunk them again. I was eaten by a shark in the process while fighting in the water and joined them on the Flying Dutchman let them know on the know we could hear them. They said they could not hear us. So, and odd bug for sure! One that should probably be looked into lol We also had two quests fail to give us maps when it was supposed to, so maybe it was just a glitched game all around.

  • Yeah, this is an old bug that pops up every so often. Whenever a ship sinks, sometimes the crew proximity chat gets stuck at the mermaid location even if the mermaid is no longer there.

    I have sailed across an area where I recently saw a ship get sunk by a skeleton ship or meg, and I can hear the crew talking even though their ship has despawned and the mermaid is gone.

    It's a hard bug to reproduce because it doesn't happen every time. I'm assuming it has something to do with the player using game chat at the moment they use the ship mermaid, or something to that effect, which causes it to get stuck at that spot.
