Buying storage crates

  • So I saw this post and they said that buying storage crates would be nice and I want to pass it on. What do I mean by storage crates I mean ONLY EMPTY ONES. Cause buying a one filled with anything could be abused heavily. But being able to buy one storage crate ( For lag issues ) would be very useful and make the time costing experience of filling up your ship in front of a outpost ten times easier and more time efficient. Before I end I want to say only the storage crates that can hold everything not a merchant one. And before you say “But you can just sell them to reapers” that’s why I said you can only buy one. And once again before you say “you can just server hop and keep selling”. 1. That would take a extremely long time 2. You can already do that with ashen chests so there’s another way to do that. I’m trying to think of the cons and I have found 2 big ones that I just answered for you. And even gave a example of another op thing they should remove.

  • @faos-ernie posting in the other thread about this and then immediatly make a new one is spamming, you know...

  • @schwammlgott I’m passing it along and adding more ideas and I made it better

  • @faos-ernie anyway, as the other idea about clothing sets...this is brought up since storage crates are in the game, so 1,5 or 2 years, don't remember since when...

There are so many ways to get these crates...every 2nd or 3rd island I'm on has one, EVERY skellie ship has one on it, galleons even 2 pretty often
I finish almost every session with at least 5 of them on my ship...
It's just not needed and a waste of time to implement

  • @schwammlgott I never said that they are hard to get it meaning for the beginning of every session mostly. The first thing you probably do if not one of the first things is loot up a outpost and a storage crate would make that so much more easier and time non time consuming. Yes I know you could just do it the normal but I feel like this could be a good addition and help people out who want to sail their ship away know that their vessel has a hefty amount of supplies for their adventure. In a good amount of time.

  • @faos-ernie but they are so easy and fast to get, that buying them isn't needed...also you don't need to fill up the ship with supplies immediatly, there are barrels of plenty, crates everywhere...
Supplies are already so easy and fast to get

  • @schwammlgott once again I never said you have to let’s say you know your not going to get into any big encounters then just take a pocket full. And yes I get that there are barrels everywhere but the amount of times I go out of my way to say a island or a fort to grab supplies is rare I do it but just not a lot. It’s once again a neat thing I’m not saying for that reason and that reason only. Some people have storage crates for cannon balls and those items alike next to their cannons for easy access. These storage crates would be useful to an extent and give you a little head start. Of course like you said just go to a island or sink a skelly ship. But there are some things in this game that can be done way easier and people use that. Like sword dashing into water. You could always swim or even take a row boat but you choose to sword dash cause if your boats right there it’s the fastest. That’s what I’m trying to saying is that some people want to get a storage crate the second they spawn in to loot up the outpost and get out of there in 3-5 min max. It’s not going to be extremely hard to implement like the saving clothes system it could be as easy as a re coded chest dig up similar to the ashen chest and you can dig it up and boom empty storage crate.

  • @faos-ernie whatever...I just say no need for making the game even more easy than it already became

  • @schwammlgott I do agree that the game can be easy I can’t remember the last time I got sunk by a a.I ship Meg or kraken. But adding storage crates to buy on a outpost wouldn’t change much. More or less you would be leaving with the same amount of supplies just is faster. I thank you for putting cons out there and helping me think a little bit but my judgement still stands. Ima head off to bed but sometimes the pros beat out the cons.

@schwammlgott I never said that they are hard to get it meaning for the beginning of every session mostly.

The "get supplies" process is part of the gameloop i dont want to miss and supply chests come by the way playing and make it easier to restock.
Buyable supply chest would support Serverhoppers to get supplies faster from scratch without the need to set sails for better options. Even when empty they would be faster stocked to do their nasty Business.
So i dont see why other to please people who are in a rush about supplies.

The first thing you probably do if not one of the first things is loot up a outpost

I often scuttle my ship to start on an island.
Or i only take what i can carry to immediatley set sails and dont bother about more supplys from the outpost, because i will get enough supplies on my way.

Think about it , loot 10 Minutes the whole outpost and dislike it or Set sail immediatley and find a supply chest the next Island or a rowboat with 20planks and 30 Cannonballs, some ccbs and food maybe even fish or at least cooked meat.
Who spents too much time at the outpost to get supplies and doesnt like it is maybe caught in wrong thoughts.

and a storage crate would make that so much more easier and time non time consuming.

Exactly , why do you think it is this way?
This is a Pirate Adventure Game, efficiency is not neccessarily a good thing then.

Yes I know you could just do it the normal but I feel like this could be a good addition and help people out who want to sail their ship away know that their vessel has a hefty amount of supplies for their adventure. In a good amount of time.

And that is exactly what i think its not as it is a start for working things off instead to immerse and have a Pirate Adventure.

I thank you for putting cons out there and helping me think a little bit but my judgement still stands. Ima head off to bed but sometimes the pros beat out the cons.

Depends in the PoV what is pro and what con.
You wanna speed it up, its a con for me i'd rather slow down some things in SoT.

  • @faos-ernie as @Stundorn mentioned...the people who profit the most of buyable crates are the server hoppers...and that is a playstyle I don't ever support

  • I dont know how many times i thought it would be nice to buy a storage crate but then i think how many things would i lose in gameplay. Right now since they are random find, they are valuable and buying only one will change everything.
I cant remember how many times was i happy when i found one and finding more storages in my adventures feels like progress. The more i play the more storage crates i have, at the end 5-10 of them, many times even 20. I think they should stay as they are now but only to add an option to sell them.

  • @faos-ernie As there is already an open thread on the same subject please continue to add your thoughts, feedback and suggestions there.

    Dropping anchor on this one.
