Lack of racial equality in customizational avatars.

  • I have been playing for a while and I’ve noticed the clear lack of racial equality in the sea of thieves character chooser. I only see 1 skinny black character and if makes me vigorously upset. I wish to have to the Option of making my black character have any weight and any distinguished facial features like different lip sizes and different war sizes. Does anyone agree?

The pirate wheel is randomized. You should be able to get something close to what you want by spinning the wheel again. It may use common traits if you lock specific characters in before regenerating.

  • equality? it's a random generator where all sorts of shapes and colors spawn. Characters aren't designed to make a political or racial statement.

As you can see perfection exists within the random generator just keep trying

  • @wolfmanbush

I’ve never seen a African character with more weight to him. I tried over and over again. I would want to make my own customizable character with options. Like in other games

  • @ottoman7285 I've seen plenty in my time. As someone who was very particular about what kind of pirate I wanted, I went through over 100 generation sets and saw plenty of black characters who were overweight.

The real problem with the character generator is that the player has zero control over what they get. They should really just overhaul the character menu so you can customize it or at least have SOME amount of control, and not just have it completely randomized.

  • You cannot be serious. I'm going to take this as a troll post so my words will not be wasted because I'm sure some brighter minds will reply with the reasonable answer to why your post is incredibly staggering.

  • Disagree, I’ve had friends that started off with large African characters, if that’s what you would like to call it, and have seen many on the seas, tho most people these days go for the smaller variety of character

  • Equality does not exist, in any respect, nothing is 50/50.
Play, enjoy, and don't worry about what skin color a pirate has, the same for real life.

  • You have random character from white to black, tall to small, fat to skinny, old to young, male and female, and all other races. Everything is random so i dont see the problem.

  • @jmcafreak that’s what I want

  • @stewcha-kun that’s is a problem

The only "problem" here would be to maybe spend hours finding your character...I have mine since the release, took me about 45 minutes or so...
The only filter I would say would be nice is a gender filter...everything else can stay as it is...just deal with it, this game is 3 years out and I don't think it will be changed...
Take your time and always hit the refresh button, you will find your chatacter

  • I have not a problem with that, i mean i like character customization in game but SOT really did a thing with random character generation. I think that is a brilliant idea because its a pirate world, pirate game, pirates should be like that, ugly, sick, scary, big or small, random, etc... That randomness when you choosing character is something that i never saw in any game but in sot, its unique i think and totally fills in game atmosphere.
I know that i and all of my friends spend 1-2 hours when creating our first character, just clicking refresh.

  • Nice troll post.

really ok i agree with you i'm very offended lol who cares it's a game and it's random

  • ...i play with all kinds of people with all different background and they are proud of how there pirate looks...but Indian,Chinese,Russian and middle east looking pirates wouldn't hurt the game.

  • you realize that cross races have difficulty seeing differences in other races? its not a racist thing, its just that white people have difficualty finding differences in 2 black people, and the same is true for black people to white, so i can already assume your white and have difficulty telling differences in dark skined people. if you think this post is racist just look up cross race effect.

  • btw there dont exist any human races but only one human race!

"Race" traditionally refers to skin color and other cosmetic differences. The word you're thinking of is "species," which yes, there is only one, singular human species alive on Earth at this time.

  • dude, the generator is random

  • @ottoman7285 The generator is totally random, if you can't find any dark skinned skinny characters it means:

    1. You got unlucky, just reroll the characters
    2. Pirate Legend ninjas took most of them to be more sneaky and hide while being full black on a pink ship
  • @tateru2661 yo dude, he said he sees only skinny dark skinned characters

  • @immaket nah m8, he said "I only see 1 skinny black character" lol

  • @tateru2661 it means, that there's 1 skinny dark character, and the rest is white

  • @immaket ye, that's what I said

  • @tateru2661 said in Lack of racial equality in customizational avatars.:

no that's not what you said

  • I just can't even get over the fact that this is tagged with "story and lore" in order to seriously divulge into the logic behind this post.

  • @jareto102 Good spot on the tag - I have removed it.

  • I am a chunky black man and I chose to be Thank you very much.

  • Unless one is actively looking for a wonky-eyed troglodyte, they'll be hard-pressed to find any specific archetype without spending a couple hours in the IPG. That's why it's great imo, takes time but there are amazing pirates to be found. Rather than complaining on the forum, go find your pirate!
