For those unaware, the Grand Maritime Union is the SoT equivalent of the East India Company. They haven't been able to make their way through the shroud, as their fleets were too large. The ships that did make it through the shroud were finished off by pirates, and the few survivors started the Merchant Alliance.
The Pirate Emporium workers also seem to work for the GMU, and Ancient Coins have the ability to part the shroud. So this leads to a few questions.
How is the pirate emporium getting it's stock? If they work for the GMU as suspected, is the GMU sending stock in smaller ships that can make it through the shroud. I think it would be really cool to find small GMU sloops sailing around. They could be a rare encounter and drop loot worth small amounts of ancient coins.
Why hasn't the GMU come through the Shroud yet? Galleons are clearly able to fit through, so why hasn't the GMU crafted smaller ships to make their way in? Are they holding off until they have enough Ancient Coins to make a pathway for their massive fleets?
Now, onto gameplay. What do you want to see when the GMU is introduced?
I think having to fight off fleets of GMU ships, and having the encounter end with a Man O' War fight would be nice. Since these ships cannot rise from the sea like skeleton ships, the encounter would need to take place near the edge of the map, so ships can spawn in the Shroud and sail out to battle.
A land raid would also be a nice addition. Would be nice twist to be raiding an outpost for once.
What would you like to see?
