In-Game Pets have a Pay-to-Win Advantage

  • The in-game pets react to enemy players aboard the ship. Not just when they are boarding either; they will sit and stare at a tucked player. This gives the player away and thus is P2W and should be fixed immediately.

Problem: Pets alert to enemy boarding & Pets alert/stare at enemy players that are tucked

Solution: Pets should not react to enemy player movements at all; remove the P2W aspect of pets.

  • Don't tuck in the pet's nap spots

I'd sit and stare at you if you were sleeping in my bed too

  • The P2W advantage with pets are a real thing. Needs to be removed without a doubt.

  • The pets are a nuisance and we don't let anyone take them out on our voyages. We find them getting in the way of everything! If a pirate uses them and the pet gives away the tucker just think of all the trouble the pet has given the pirate throughout the voyage. I.E. attempting to grab the wheel/Cannons/Sales etc. and you pick up the pet instead. The pets were made to give a warning.

  • Aww tuck clowns are mad that a pet ruined their 2 hour hide 🤣🤣

  • @valor-omega I actualy am not a tucker, but have seen this ruin others tucks. I am against any and all P2W as you should be as well; no matter how small it is.

  • Pets should not interact with players in a "hide" emote. It is very frustrating when a dog walks up stares at you and starts barking at you while you are hidden. Especially if the pirate knows what that means then walks over finds you. I enjoy pets and have a monkey with a couple outfits I don't want them removed. I just want them to not interact with me in a hide emote.

  • Well I should probably stop stuffing my pajamas with chicken and pork chops before trying to tuck. Next stop pets should be warning you when another ship approaches. :)

  • Just got into a game, got a friend to help me test this. Can confirm, not true.

My dog roamed and slept in places in the ship no where near another non crew pirate. I stay in the crows nest while they roamed freely and it didn’t bark or ā€œstareā€.

Unless you stay in a placement where the npc animal is known to sit or lay down. But they don’t do anything to give them away.

Another: if your worried a pet is giving you away......stop tucking. Very simple you lazy pirate.

  • Could be considered that the Hide emotes are P2W too. ;)

Let's just get buyable weapon cosmetics that affect aim. I'm pretty sure that'll fix things.

  • lol sounds like one tucker lost his 2 castaways chest

  • I wish my dog had a urinate emote he could use when he sniffs a fricken tucker.

  • Animals do not react to players boarding ships or tucking at all. I actually think pets are pay to lose, an example would be they are so loud when in combat that you may never even notice a player boarding because they constantly scream

    Hide emote was free

  • @captainstab1n

There are others. ^_^ There's even a collection!

The free hide emote is the best one out of all of them, and therefore you are not forced to buy the others. The other hide emotes are not that good.

    So not pay to win.

I agree, i hardly tuck at all.

But when i do, i have never had a enemy player's pet react to me when i was hidden, when they're pets walk pass or stop next to me.

The hide emote is free though.
    Least it was for me.
Unless they started charging for it now?

It cant be P2W if its free.

I agree with this sentiment - paired with the aforementioned "getting in the way of interactables " mentioned earlier, they're definitely pay to lose.

  • i only use my cat and my monkey. My bird is always off screwing around, and my dog barks nonstop, even when literally nothing is happening. At least my cat makes soothing sounds, and my monkey does a funny dance.

  • Does anybody else notice how pets have a tendency to mysteriously disappear after a while? Mine seem to.

  • @galactic-geek Mine has a tendency to go hide under the Map Table or Captains Table... I am thinking of calling him Reaper at this rate!

  • @musicmee

    What about Tucker?

  • @galactic-geek Yes my cats do but then will find Grump McFluff for example curled up in a ball under a table.

Not sure what OP is talking about my cats are always as far away from me as possible licking their paws somewhere, alert me to nothing.

  • good riddance. tuckers are a waste of a good server slot. down with the tucking meta.

  • @l-snapper-l said in In-Game Pets have a Pay-to-Win Advantage:

    pay to lose

I dont know why but that made me laugh. Pay to lose, RARE has created a new category in gaming.

  • For some time i thought i witnessed pets placed near the ladder react to players trying to board, because i heared a cat hissing when a player tried to Board.
We then allways had pets at ladders, but i can tell you its random and no guarantee to alarm you.

No p2w and rather something that gets in the way.

  • I believe it is only dogs that alert to tuckers but I may be mistaken. I think they should just make a basic dog you can buy with gold to even out the playing field. I do a lot of tucking and I have never had a problem with pets. Most experienced players frown upon people using pets because they can get in the way.

  • Pets make noise constantly, regardless of players tucking on board.

I think it's kind of fitting that this community is so superstitious sometimes and tries to apply correlation to a lot of things without doing science... it's actually like being back in the golden age of piracy! :P

  • @maligmus i've never seen this happen
