Petition to revert Sea of Thieves Cosmetics Removal - May 22nd (2018)

    the following cosmetics were removed from the game on May 22nd 2018 due to some players complaints about a lack of visual distinctiveness to similar existing cosmetics:

    Shipwright

    • Scurvy Bilge Rat Figurehead
    • Castaway Bilge Rat Figurehead
    • Grand Admiral Figurehead
    • Ruffian Sea Dog Figurehead

    Weaponsmith

    • Scurvy Bilge Rat Cutlass
    • Castaway Bilge Rat Cutlass
    • Grand Admiral Cutlass
    • Ruffian Sea Dog Cutlass

    as the discussion in the annoiuncement thread shows this decision is not supported by the majority of players and a removal of these cosmetic set-pieces was never requestet.

    as removing the above cosmetics did not solve any problems I would like to petition for them to be readded to the game.

    I personally do not mind full-price reskins as they still add more variety and I would like to have the option to get the full Scurvy, Castaway, Grand Admiral and Ruffian Sea Dog cosmetic-sets which I never had a chance to get while they were still available in the game.

    please leave your opinion and help this petition to get the required attention by the Developers so we can get these cosmetics back.

    to the Developers:
    please just add these cosmetics back to the shop. it is nonsensical to remove these set-parts and reduce variety when the assets are already in the game. also even these reskins are effort that has gone into development which would be sad to keep removed from the game only because of some players frustration over getting "just reskins" with the cosmetics-update at the time.

    @u1435d5glv denied. Its 3 years old, and some cosmetics are very similar so there is no point in adding more lag just so you can satisfy your needs.

    do you know how games(or software in general) work? it doesn't seem so.

    the assets of these items are already in the game. people who bought them before they were removed from the shop can keep using them so everyone already dowloaded them with the game we just can't buy them in the shop.

    there is no additional dowload time, no additional lag, no additional game size, just more options in the shop.

    the other cosmetics might be very similar if you are colorblind which not all of us are.

    it's not only my needs by the way. the sets exist, are available in the game but have been made incomplete. this effects many players and especially since this is 3 years old I think it is high time to forget about this whole thing and make these items available again.

    @u1435d5glv sigh do you know how assets work in a game? do you know why ark is so laggy? because they have so many assets. add more assets= laggy game

    @rtl-saint I happen to be a software developer with some experience in game development so yes I do know how assets work.

    aside from the fact that the assets I am requesting are already in the game, so no additional lag, just access to the existing items in the game, I know ark and I know that game is terribly optimized.

    lag is most often caused by loading times either into RAM or into VRAM. so what matters the most (infinitely more than more varietey in assets) and what could be done to reduce lag is reduce the assets filesize and especially texturesize.
    In todays game-development it is a common trend to avoid optimization in those areas because the customers can always be told to buy a better pc. mobile gaming however proves that optimization could allow us to play AAA titles on a toaster without sacrificing much in terms of looks.

    so:
    you want less lag?
    tell the devs to remove unneeded vertices from the 3d models and provide properly shaded lowrez textures.

    don't defend their decision to make recolored set-parts unavailable despite having them downloaded by every player and probably even loaded at game-start.
