I ran an experiment

    1. No Xbox Live party chat or Discord chat;
    2. No text chat;
    3. Only use in-game voice chat, and/or
    4. Only use in-game quick chat.

This would be my ideal crew.
LFG stopped working for me more than a year ago.

I play the Steam version now, maybe I can crew up easier.

Not with me I'm afraid, since I usually disable cross-platform play. If it wasn't for that pesky imbalance... 🙄

@ixxolos this forum is for suggestions. not a science project forum

Its also a place for Feedback & Suggestions soooooo.......

    FEEDBACK......

...and if these last few replies from me are any indication, I'm dishing out that feedback. 😅

  • @rtl-saint said in I ran an experiment:

@xix-zeno-xix feedback. not complaining about the playerbase

Who said I was complaining? 🤨

  • @xix-zeno-xix said in I ran an experiment:

@rtl-saint then don't complain about others feedback....

I get what you mean, but if one is complaining about the player base that is also a way of sharing feedback aswell. It lets the devs know that there is something bothering certain players so they can look into it to figure something out or return with a "Srry for the inconvenience, but we just can't do that... etc....
    (Edit)

Hear hear! Or is it here here? Or hear here? Or here hear? 🤣

  • People have the time to use discord “app” or text pad but don’t want to use a mic?

Even if they choose discord as a means of replacement mic, I dislike using my phone for such a thing. Calls come in.

So this is good experiment. Just shows people preferences. Mic will always be the dominate choice (even in party) but I like to hear other people talk from other crews.

  • @galactic-geek

Having a dedicated crew to play with is shockingly game changing, it makes a lot of the game so very different and in some ways better because everyone seems to fall into organized roles. Group play like this is why we have specifically given up certain game items for the sake of a challenge in pvp.

Using cursed cannon, blunder bombs and Molotov is so overpowered in the hands of evens decent crew that we by choice only use the original weapons so that enemy crews in adventure mode have a reasonable chance.
This is why I am no fan of all the new weapons and mechanics, it made the game too easy.

Yeah, I hate getting robo calls during Discord discussions. 😑

I beg to differ - I think they opened up new mechanics and made the game more interesting through variety. With new mechanics comes new ways to avoid or counter them too.

  • even though it might be easier for some to just use the communication options they use in many other games (Xbox Live and Discord) and often with the same groups of people, I think there is great fun to be had in using the build-in communication.

like others have said If I had seen your experiment I would have liked to join.

especially the in-game voice chat has so much potential in making talking to friends and foes more interesting.

one good example for how distance restricted but public voice-chat can drastically change the playing experience for the better would be CrewLink for Among Us. I honestly couldn't imagine playing the game properly without it.

I feel like the in-game voice chat here could be equally beneficial to the gameplay experience and deserves more attention by the players.

  • Feel free to drop me an invite.
I have a mic and that but sometimes i like to just be quiet and chill on the sofa and follow commands.

Solo sloopers like us are pretty good crew as we are already thinking of where to positions sails etc before it needs done, being use to having no crew.

  • @galactic-geek

Just open crew and nearly any decent crew will abide by these rules.

Any decent crew? In open? Do you have any idea how long that would take to get? I have consistently gone 3+ hours before I was able to get 1!

  • @galactic-geek

Up to 3 hops and I tend go be alright. Just don't try to go a galleon.

No galleon? Where's the fun in that?

Galleons need a bit more coordination and it seems to be plagued more with silent bards than the other ship types.
