Me and my friends have a total of 8 people that are all on Sea of Thieves and even tho we have to split into 2 crews, we would still like to be able to play on the same server with each other. Maybe a solution could be to have codes for different servers that players could enter in to get onto the same server as their friend while being on a different crew. Another suggestion could be to have an option to party up as an alliance or fleet so that you can have more than 4 people while still keeping the crew maximum to 4.
Crew size/Alliances

The reality is that Rare has implemented these systems as they have to create situations where you'll encounter enemy crews. I too have 6 friends that play SoT around the same time, so we also have to deal with being unable to "Sail together" as the song goes. However, understand that the interactions you have without all being on at the same time allows for some unique experiences. Some you wouldn't have if you were two crews beside each other all the time in an alliance. This isn't to say, "No, we shouldn't have friendly pirates," or "No, we keep crew size as it is." I agree with you a little, by increasing our crew size by at least +1 across the board. However, I do disagree when it comes to allowing a crew to have a ship brought in on the same server that is unequivocally an ally before you've even gotten together on the map.
I made some dedicated posts in 8 Person Frigate Confirmed?, where I spoke at length about a very large ship to accommodate us larger groups of players to sail together rather than getting around the system they have by being in random servers away from each other.

Having the 8 of you on a server is easily achievable. If all 8 of you go to galleon closed crew(or any sized closed crew for that matter) and don’t fill the crew with invites, set sail all at once(you’ll have 8 chances of ships being on the same server). Then have everyone kill themselves or fly reapers marks to identify if any of you are on the same server. Then send invites to friends that aren’t. I’ve seen it done many times.@vito1700 ...and this is how server alliance takeovers are accomplished. With rebounding invitations... 🙄
The only way I would be for having these multiple ship crews is if they are placed in other servers with similar crew make-ups. However, they would also need to cap Alliances in some way, otherwise things will get broken. I would find it rather enjoyable to face off against fleets of ships rather than the majority of 1v1s.
