okay, so I have seen this a lot with the people I have been sailing with. someone we roll up on and sink/Take their loot, comes back and attacks us again to no avail, and they do this, over and over and over for hours! personally I and a good deal of the people I sail think that if you sink 2 times in a 45 minute period on a server you should be reset in a different sever....Thoughts?
You sink....You leave!

That's why spawn camping exists brother. For the ships that keep coming back to us after we sink them we just spawn camp them until they leave.

So what happens if you...leave your ship in a storm due to reasons and it sinks. You suddenly leave server?
Crash your own ship? Leave as well?
Player sinks your ship JUST as you leave port...leave server....
Imagine you're doing Tall Tale 9 and some random ship sinks yours while you're fighting the boss then suddenly you see a loading screen loooool
This is something that I've asked for since Alpha.

It would be a server transfer, like what happens when there's no other ships left in the server.
Also, being sunk from PvE situations such as a storm whilst not being attacked by a player could be excluded.@capt-soul-beard said in You sink....You leave!:

Already happens sometimes with server transfers, also certain islands can be excluded from the rule, such as the Shores of Gold or an Outpost.

Too many rules, there's already a cure to this problem. 'spawn camping'

Maybe it's time to stop asking then - if they haven't implemented it by now, it's probably because there's something wrong with the idea.
@capt-soul-beard You don't see how toxic this is? You killed someone probably unprovoked, stole the stuff they worked so hard to get, then get mad when they... Want retribution/to get their stuff back?
The entitlement here is astounding.
@glorianalafey Eh...pirate's life for me? It's a pirate game. There is no 'unprovoked' pirate attack. Do you think all of our pirate fights consist of "Meet me at Plunder outpost in thirty minutes for a duel!" "Deal!"
@kentey7 I use to be against this idea but recently I have changed my mind. If you sink to another player than you lost and should be migrated.
Others have stated their concerns, but I worry about the combat logging exploiting. I will give you a quick example. I was tracking this Gilded Athena with my crew. We ran into them earlier and let them be because we wanted to strike them with the three Athena chests. Here is the thing, they knew that we knew what they were doing. If your system above existed, all they would need to do is sink before digging up the chests. Transfer over to a new server where no one knows who they are or what they are doing. Now they could dig those chest with the safety of anonymity.
The thing about Athena steals is they rely on Recon, and in this game, stealthing is rather hard. The game provides many avenues to be spotted. This includes obvious ships, mermaids, and rowboats. Chances are any crew worth their salt will easily identify. All it takes is one paranoid crew to sink the ship and spoil any and all plans to steal those chests. It essentially creates an exploitive way to combat stealing.
If you were wondering how the story actually ended, they tried to do a row-boat play with the chests. They took the ship to Galleon's Grave while rowing to Daggertooth. However, we had both outposts staked out as a precaution for this exact plan. We succeeded in killing their rowboat crew and got all the chests.
This wouldn't have happened if they could just transfer over to another server.

What's wrong with spawn camping? I'm playing the game fair and square, and I'm just killing them over and over. I never said say anything rude.

The best part of Sea of Thieves is selling loot I haven't worked for rofl. Love just joining a new server and immediately stealing treasure people have been working hours for. My favorite part of SoT period.
then get mad when they... Want retribution/to get their stuff back?
I never get mad, in fact, I love when they try to get their treasure back. Although if it gets tedious I apply the cure.
The entitlement here is astounding.
Entitlement of what? I never said I have the right to something.
