More pistol iron sights varients

  • I know that there is like a couple pistols with iron sights depending on when you started playing.

I also know that the pistol is the same for all varients and you can learn the best way to aim depending on the skin etc etc.

But I just want to say...

Past few nights I've been using mercenary pistol with the proper iron sights and my accuracy has massively improved. It's more a comfort thing for me personally.

I absolutely slayed last night with the pistol. Shooting keg skellies whilst sailing past islands, killing pirates in the water etc etc.

There isn't many pistols with these iron sights and it's a shame.
Ideally I'd love a blue one to go with admiral outfit.

It would be nice if there is a general balance mix of skins for each weapon with all the different iron sights and so on.

It's just for me personally, a lot more comfortable to use.

    It's my favourite weapon again.

  • You can still get the aristocrat and silver blade ones.

  • I agree.

The whole "everything is balanced, only the cosmetics are different" argument falls flat on its face once you use the specific variants of the pistols and cannons have "sights" on them.

I'm not entirely sure why Rare keeps singing that tune when it's so demonstrably false lol
But hey, I guess it still is 2020, amirite?

I agree that for me the only flintlocks that are "viable" from a sweat perspective are the ones with the sight, but cannons aren't really any better with a sighting point because 95% of aim is learning to feel out your momentum leads and aiming so high there's nothing to actually aim with using the "sights". So I'd definitely say the game is very well balanced, because even with the flintlocks having a slight advantage, it's not that very much and the cannons are basically identical as far as accuracy goes.

True, but aristocrat aren't the prettiest.
By the way, don't think I have silver blade though. How you get that?

  • It's less about the actual models but more about the fact that most of them aren't properly centered on the screen. If your monitor has a crosshair button, turn it on sometime (or if not, do something to mark the screen center for science) and ADS with the flintlocks, and you'll see that the majority of them don't even line up with the top of the barrel (including literally all of the paid ones from the emporium).

The flintlock when in ADS will always shoot at the center of the screen, no matter where the model rests on the screen. This means that if you're shooting with one of the flintlocks that is too low (the Christmas one, the reaper one, the ghost one, the hunter one, etc...) and you line up your shot with the top of the model, your shot will go over whatever you're aiming at. Conversely, a few other models (notably the Legendary Sea Dog one, as well as the parrot ones) cover the center of the screen and would cause you to shoot too low if you didn't know to adjust for it.

TBH Rare needs to go through the flintlocks and normalize aim by lowering or raising them to all be centered with the top of the barrel or the aimpoint being centered on the screen.

The best models for aiming are the Kraken flintlocks, the Sea Dogs ones (Rogue Sea Dog and the models like it, NOT the Glorious, Triumphant, or Legendary Sea Dog ones), or the Mercenary model ones (Obsidian, Mercenary, Aristocrat, and Silver Blade)

You get it after completing 39 weekly rewards for insider testing. A lot of people don’t know about the set surprisingly.

  • @illbushido305 Thank you for letting me know. I have hardly even been on insiders. I think I jumped on before they had the anniversary update and that was that.

I'll prob start going on a bit more maybe.

Oh, I know about it, as I'm still working my way through it. I saw a friend the other day who was way ahead of me though, since I'm a few weeks behind. He had what looked a near full outfit with hat and coat and eyepatch - none of which I have yet (last thing I recall getting was the shovel, or whereabouts).

@DaringClarky Happy to see another flintlock user. 😁

And yes, cosmetics aren't just cosmetic - from the iron sights on weapons, to the flanges on cannons, to the glowing of your clothing and or ship, and even the noise of your pet - they all affect gameplay in some way. Rare likes to think it doesn't make a difference, but it does. I personally wonder if they only really care about it making too much of a difference. A little difference? It'll be fine! 🙄

FYI, I ❤ shooting glowing pirates that are hiding underwater or in bushes.
