Lets talk about world events (Especially Flameheart)

  • In my opinion this event is the most unnecessary, tedious and over used event in the game right now.

    • It's up like 90% of the time, way more than any other event.
    • The despawn timer is also way longer than any other event.
    • It occupies big and frequent visited islands with a huge attack and audio/music radius.
    • And ontop of that, it's an event that, different from other world events, shares the exact mechanics from a voyage, The Order of Souls ghost ship voyage.

If you look at the good old Fleets and Forts, which are sadly quite rare these days. Those events doesn't really bother you since they spawn on specific locations and are more easily avoidable if not desired. But those are solid and unique events, balanced in the world. Ashen Winds shares somewhat the same problems as Flameheart except the fact they have a more rare spawn and do despawn much quicker.

    Solution?

    • Make Flameheart events more rare.
    • Make them despawn faster if no one are doing them or leave them half finished for a period of time.
    • Remove the second wave, that way making the fight shorter overall.
    • Decreased the audio/music radius for both Flameheart and Ashen Winds.
    • Maybe remove the Flameheart events all together and make them a player triggered event (like Fort of the Damned).

    What are your thoughts?

  • I would just be happy with the option to mute the event audio when its up as hearing him going on and on every time its up and just passing it to get to a main destination is driving me more insane than I already am.

  • @mathemoto
My guess is the range is what keeps the events up so long.

I spawn in at an outpost and he is already yelling at me. If he is yelling at me then the game probably thinks I have triggered him to keep the event active. So now, anyone who spawns in at that outpost is going to keep the event active.

I definitely agree that something needs to be done. I have even gone back to server hopping for skull forts like the old days just so I can go fishing for battlegills because I almost never see skull forts anymore.

    • Its not up that that long, unless nobody does them.

    • This kind of true

    • Yeah...so people would either do them or avoid them.

    • Well..OoS Ghost ship voyage is basically Flameheart, just not talking. I think one you fight the Burning Blade and the other you dont.

    • Possible solution. Much like the Fort of the Damned

    • Another good

    • Nope, no need to remove or decrease the rounds.

    • As above, yeah.

  • I think the number of waves is pretty spot on, and shortening it would be a bad idea. As is, my crewmate and I can get it done in ~15 minutes, give or take a few.

  • I'd be down with removing the third wave of the encounter (the second one that has plain ships). It's not hard, just tedious. To compensate they should make the Burning Blade harder.

  • Definitely no to making it shorter

I think all of the events take the right amount of time when done efficiently

they fixed the thing where they would spawn on people which is I think the fix that was needed.

Personally I miss the days of just doing forts and fleets however I believe this new system with more events has overall made the game better because it has spread everyone out which has allowed more adventure for the adventurous and more variety in slaughter for the ruthless

I understand some of the criticisms and the frustration but overall I think it's made the gameplay better

best thing about flameheart imo is that it's a moving event like the fleet so it removes a lot of the tucking and sitting and keeps it more action packed and gives pvers some action without having to be sitting ducks for pvpers all the time

I don't think there is a whole lot of room for more events but right now I don't think it's gone overboard yet
