Any Ideas for Grog Soaked Ed

  • I like Ed, the loveable drunkard, but like all the NPC's added with the Cargo updates they are rather pointless and static additions that don't even blink when there's an ashen lord beside them. I would like to see these NPCs provide small voyages and minigames for players to enjoy.

    Like my earlier post of ideas for Dead Shot Charlotte of Lone Cove;
    https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/109323/npcs-update-deadshot-charlotte-lone-cove
    I would like to do the same for Ed and am interested to hear any ideas you might have.

    My current ideas include;
    A new "Rum runner" voyage where you must recover and deliver large quantities of rum bottles
    Expansion to the grog barrels in ships, perhaps even the ability to switch them for other liquids; water, milk, wine etc
    and a few minor ideas not worth typing yet.

  • @sailorkek I like the Rum Runner voyage idea. I'm pretty surprised that in a pirate game I still can't seem to find a stash of rum anywhere! Perhaps you're given a riddle, or an x-marks the spot map, or even just a map of an island and you have to find the stash. Once found, you could take it back to Ed for lots of gold, or take it to the merchants for lots of rep but little gold. I imagine the rum stash would have a mix of regular crates of rum bottles, some devil's roar rum bottles, and a new crate of "old/forgotten/ancient" rum bottles worth a lot more that the regular ones,

  • This is a really cool idea! I like the idea of expanding on the grog. And grog soaked Ed is perfect for that. The voyage part of it seems pretty cool too.

  • @mferr11 how possible do you reckon it would be if you were given a page of scribbles that you could only read whilst you're drunk so in effect the entire time your following the trail to a rum stash your stumbling around and throwing up hahaha

  • @sailorkek When the original Tall Tales were still in production, there was an idea of only being able to see clues while drunk. I could easily see that idea being used for this voyage. Would add a reason to get drunk and make running into other crews more dangerous.

  • @mferr11 huh, that I did not know, pretty neat actually and makes this concept more possible imo.
    Be cool if there was a "grog of the damned" that let's you see spirits like the Morningstar Tall Tale.
