In Sea of Thieves, we have a lot of cosmetics from clothing, to vanity to even hair, and we have hair styles and dyes as well. But some clothing that we really like the look of, well... sometimes we don't like the colour, and some don't like the way the outfit looks.
Introducing - Clothing Dyes and Styles
Clothing Dyes
Clothing Dyes allow pirate to change the colour of their cosmetics, such as the Pirate Legend Jacket being Green, or the Ghost outfit having redish ghost parts.
For those who have played Team Fortress 2, you might know what I'm talking about but for those that don't, TF2 allows players to buy paints to change the colours of parts of their cosmetics such as pink, green, purple, etc, so why can't us pirates enjoy having to change the colour of our favourite clothing?
With clothing dyes, their could be a variety to choose from to fit your pirate.
Want to embrace your inner gold hoarder with the pirate legend outfit? Use green dye!
Want to showcase that you braved the Devil's Roar with your ghost outfit? Use Red dye!
I already got some ideas as to what some dye could be:
- Ocean Blue - A Dark Bluish dye to showcase your love for sharks or the ocean! Mostly sharks.
- Banana Yellow - A yellow dye to show your love for bananas!
- Pomegranate Red - A pomegranate a day, keeps your pirate away! from your loot.
- Bone Dust - White as the bones from dead skeletons, or the face of a pirate in sheer terror.
- Greedy Hoarder - Embrace your inner greed with this greenish hue.
- Trader's Trusted - Its all good business.
- Ghostly Green - Its spooky and scary!
These are just some examples of dyes that could exist in the game, which could bring out a lot of creativity amongst pirates in the seas, whether it be to show off their wealth, be incredibly sneaky whilst looking stylish, or just to be fancy.
However, I want dyes to be something rewarding and rare, so why not tie these to Pirate Legends only? That way they get more exclusive content and non-legends can look in awe at the variety of colours legends can pull off, inciting them to reach that goal.
Now, what if a Pirate doesn't want a specific part of the outfit dyed at all? Or, what if they want their clothing to have a slight change of style?
So including with dyes, lets add Styles to the game as well.
Clothing Styles
Clothing Styles come in two forms:
- Dye Style
- Cosmetic Style
Dye Style
Comes in four forms, Default, Style 1, Style 2, Style 3.
These styles allow pirates to choose the form of their dye, Default is no dye, Style 1 is one part of clothing covered in dye, Style 2 does a different part, Style 3 does the entire cosmetic.
For example, if you want the Pirate Legend Jacket to have the default purple, but parts of the outfit to be a different colour such as black, you can select Style 2, or alternatively if you want the whole outfit to be black, you can select Style 3.
Cosmetic Style
Cosmetic Styles like Dyes also come in a variety of forms, Default, Style 1, 2, etc.
Cosmetic Styles change the cosmetic entirely like for example, imagine the Pirate Legend Jacket but open, or alternatively the Glorious Sea Dog Gloves but the fingers are covered.
Cosmetic Styles fit in with Dyes as well allowing even more creativity for pirates, however it obviously should be done in a way so similar cosmetics can't overrule or disguise as another (same way with dye).
Also unlike Dyes, styles will be available for everyone to use regardless of reputation.
Anyways, what do you all think, could Clothing Dyes and Styles work in Sea of Thieves?
What suggestions do you have for it?
What are your thoughts?
