UPDATE IDEA: The Scorched Sea

  • Got this idea whilst replaying the Prince of Persia trilogy (Zurvan is hell to kill)

So a lot of people want a arctic/frozen region which even I want, but I also want a new area primarily set in the Desert.

That's what this post will be about, introducing the new region

    The Scorched Sea:

The shroud has parted once again, revealing a brand new sandy region in the South, The Scorched Sea.

Unlike the other regions, this composes of a singular massive island (far larger than the Shores of Gold to the point where it is its own region), filled with a vast desert, outposts, oasis, mysterious temples, canyons, and more sand.

Upon arriving at this new region, pirates can travel to one of four outposts located at the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western parts of the island.

These outposts provide plenty of new voyages and cosmetics for your pirate to fit the desert theme such as weapons, equipment and clothing alike.

The companies differ as well with new voyages exclusive to this region.

    GOLD HOARDERS
The Gold Hoarders, along with regular voyages, will provide a brand new exclusive voyage called "Tomb Voyages", the names not catchy but they are working on it. Pirates will be given a map of the region where they will need to find a special key marked with a special symbol.

Upon getting this key, pirates will need to travel to one of the numerous tombs or crypts to find the matching symbol and use it to open a door leading into the stone depths filled with traps, puzzles and other dangers.
If you manage to conquer this treacherous place, you will be handsomely rewarded with desert themed chests and relics, and for those that manage to cash in a certain amount will be rewarded with new cosmetics such as Gold Hoarder weapons and equipment, completing the set so that pirates can show off their wealth.

    The Sand-Glider
In order to bring your loot towards the vendors, pirates will need to use a new ship specifically made for the burning sands, The Sand-Glider.

Pirates can utilise the winds to move at fast speeds, allowing travel to be secured more quickly.

Of course travelling amongst the sands can be quite difficult when you don't have the wind on your side, so these have a built in Gusting Cannon so you can journey through the sands with ease.

However, unlike the ships you are used to, the Sand-Glider does not have cannons so instead you will need to use long range weapons when facing the enemy. Including a brand new weapon, the Crossbow.

The crossbow is a new long-ranged weapon that can fire a deadly arrow dealing plenty of damage to the enemy, they can also be attached to the Sand-Glider as a way to make do without a cannon. They do have a long reload time however.

    ORDER OF SOULS
Pirates aren't the only ones to have learned how to use the Sand-Gliders, but skeletons as well know how to use them and are smart enough to come in fleets, but we beg to differ.

As a result of this threat, the Order of Souls have produced a new voyage to hunt down these glider fleets and take them down, players will battle waves of these skellies who will fire Cursed Arrows at the players and their glider.

You will be greatly rewarded for defeating them as you'll obtain new types of skulls, and for proving your mettle new cosmetic items to fully complete the look such as weapons and equipment.

    Cursed Arrows
But that's not all, you will also be rewareded with Cursed Arrows.
These arrows differ from the regular ones as they can provide a variety of some old and brand new effects such as Flaming Cursed Arrow that deals fire damage to a ship or another player, and a Gust Cursed Arrow that can stop a Gusting Cannon.

    Merchant Alliance
The Merchant Alliance also sees great deal in this desert region and has tasked players to not only deliver new types of cargo crates, but also hunt down new animals in the region as well.

Delivering these on good condition and time will reward the player with gold, reputation and new cosmetics to fully complete the merchant look, now that's a good Sales-Pirate.
(I wasn't too sure as to what to write for the Merchant Alliance)

    Athena's Fortune
Along with the regular trading companies, Athena's Fortune will also provide new voyages for legends to take on new exclusive voyages.

The first is a Legendary Pyramid Voyage, pirates will be given map which leads to a tablet detailing a riddle to enter one of the pyramids amidst the desert.
Upon solving this riddle, pirates will enter the structure and take on a deadly gauntlet or traps, enemies and puzzles in order to reach the loot within.
At the end, players will find a massive loot haul but will need to take on a new skeleton lords, Pharaohs.

These Pharaohs are great users of magic and as such are able to perform abilities such as covering the room in complete darkness, turning invisible, produce clones of itself, sand tornadoes and more.
Defeating these foes will give you a new weapon, The Staff of Sands.

    The Staff of Sands
This new weapon yields magic and can cast spells used by the Pharaohs to use on your enemies, beware that the staff is cursed to drain ones life force and will slow eat away at your health.

Or if you choose to cash in this weapon, you'll need to be fast as this weapon is marked with the Pharaoh's Curse that will not only mark your current location, but will heavily attract skeletons and a new foe, the Sand Serpent.

You will be heavily rewarded for handing this staff in to the Mysterious Stranger and for those that prove themselves even further, will be reward with the new Legendary Garb of Sands, a new costume for the legends that conquer the desert.

    Sand Serpent and Sand Storms
Beware however, as skeletons aren't the only threat to the sands, but the environment itself is also against you with sand storms that can obscure your vision and if you spend too long, will tear apart your glider and slowly damage you.

The storms are also home to a new creature called the Sand Serpent, a giant and ferocious snake that can reward greatly for its defeat.
The Sand Serpent is quick and can spit balls of poisons that can cover an area making the battle much harder, along with a tail whip that can deal heavy damage if you are in its path.

    A Lost Well...
Somewhere in the desert, is a mysterious magical well said to contain treasures beyond anyones dreams.

It is rumoured to be a massive labyrinth filled with traps, puzzles and enemies alike, but none have yet to explore its depths, and those that did venture returned frightened of what they saw with their experiences differing greatly.

Could this well have a mind of its own? Are the rooms different each time upon visiting?

Uncover the truth of this place with the new TallTale, The Lost Well.

A brand new region to explore, new foes and plenty of new loot for players to get in this new Sea of Thieves Monthly Update (fanmade)
