Super simple suggestion, but I think it would be a great idea to have the ability to delete any unwanted quests you pick up from treasure chests, barrels, etc... When doing Athena Voyages or something with multiple maps it gets very confusing cycling through them sometimes.
Discarding Unwanted Quests
Would absolutely love this. I'd love for these Side Quests to get represented on the Voyage Table by a small stack of loose papers that we can interact with. This can pull up a little menu screen with the different Side Quests listed in it with an option to "Vote to Cancel" on each of them.
Added bonus, this would allow scurvy pirates trying to do thieving the ability to see what Side Quests a crew might be working as well as their primary objectives.
@redeyesith great idea actually! they should also buff the side quests in my opinion too. because honestly, who does em? lol
To be fair, I do them if they are on the way for my Voyage. Very rarely they net something valuable, but as you gain rank it becomes the best way to keep working towards those "cash in an obscene amount of every different grade of loot" achievements over time. But I agree, it would be nice if they were RNG on the full spectrum of quest tiers so they could be amazing or absolute garbage. It makes them a gamble, which is kind of a cool mechanic to lean into.
@burnbacon umm, the quests that give me a castaway chests and are getting mixed in with my actual GOOD and VALUABLE emissary quests such as Athena voyages and stuff... What kind of response is that? I understand you are kissing the devs rear end right now, but Its literally an option to dispose of the quests. As simple as that.
OMG yes please.
KEY: it needs to be a crew vote thing, or you can only ditch bottle messages, to prevent griefing of a crew member clearing out your voyages wheel. Pretty simple, really.
- Majority crew vote, just like everything else. Easy, just not something they should overlook.
- Restrict the type of voyage able to be dropped. Personally, I would say both bottle voyages AND "skeleton's orders" (from Ashen Guardians and Emergent Captains) should be able to be dropped. I have all the Tomes and 10K doubloons so while I like to kill the Ashen Guardians for emissary rep but I usually just tap the chests to get rid of the voyage and then leave them there.
I've always liked this idea. However, in case you didn't know, completing side quests does yield rank ups when flying an Emissary flag. So killing all of those Ashen/Captain skeletons on the beach you sail past, doing messages in the bottles, skeleton orders, etc will help you get to your Rank 5 goal.
@gleaminx I understand. But i'm saying in general you should be able to discard them if you wanted to. Its just an ease of access change...
@its-alpa I totally agree. I spend hours playing every day, these quests do congest the radial dial.
One of my grade 5 Gold Horder Emisary votages was on The Isle of last Words, Flameheart was busy doing his talk while a brigantine crew was fighting him. On the island I noticed a lot of skeletons: random ones, captain and a random Order o Souls I had picked up hours ago.
Would I have liked the possibility to discard the last one ... maybe... but TBH I'm glad that Rare hasn't nerfed this yet. It made an easy 5x dig a little bit more interesting.
@galactic-geek said in Discarding Unwanted Quests:
I can certainly understand why so many pirates would want to discard voyages from their quest wheel that they have absolutely no intention of doing, and agree. But, how would you do it if you were in a crew? How would that work thematically, visually, and mechanically?
Like someone else said, side quests could be represented on the quest table as a stack of loose papers, as opposed to an "official" quest. Interacting with the stack would probably then let you sift through the papers in a menu similar to the current player-specific quest menu and cast votes (which could be represented as stamps, wax seals or similar) for which ones to discard.
