Dual Wielding Same Weapon

  • Lets assume we live in a world where the weapons in the game are relatively balanced. People are happy about the way each weapon performs and the hit reg and lag etc has been fixed.

What would be next for the future of weapons?

You could add new weapons or you could enable the ability to dual wield!

Grab two swords and by more effective blocking and parrying. Having an extra swing up your sleeve and the disadvantage of being only effective up close.

Dual wield guns, two pistols, two blunders and EORs.

Sounds like a balance killer when i lay it on the table as bluntly as this.
But the devs could look at a way of making it more balanced and fair.
Perhaps putting stuff in place to make it less OP like a minimised damage when dual wielded or something.

Just speculation on my part as i admit i dont have the answer.

But assuming that it could all get ironed out and worked out...would you like to see this in future if...and only if..they manage to do it without making it balance destroying chaos?

    A penny for your thoughts.

  • @daringclarky How is the aim supposed to work?

  • @jctc758 It would be a case of quick firing using left and right trigger to fire the representative weapon on the left or right side.

But holding in trigger would make you enter aim mode as of you were aiming regularly.

So you could do a quick pow pow burst or hold in the trigger and line up a shot then immediately do it with the second weapon.

  • I would argue that "More" is less important than "Better".

Weapons selection seems fine as is. Short, medium and long range and a hand-to-hand. Don't need any more than that. Just better hit-reg, balance and an end to double-shot.

  • I like it that could be quite an idea if your like an outlaw pirate!

  • @daringclarky If combat was perfectly balanced and everyone was happy with it I'd rather see new weapons.

  • I don't think Dual wielding Blunderbuss or Eye of Reach would work. Both are basically two handed weapons (Even the pistol requires two hands to reload)

Instead, why not take a page from history. Blackbeard had FIVE pistols that he pre-loaded before every fight, pulling them out one at a time or in pairs. If we did the same, it could be handled by making a separate tab on the pistol for "Number carried" - The pistols would use the same ammo however, so though you could fire a lot faster and fire 2 shots at a time, you would run out of ammo that much faster. Doing this would mean always firing from the hip as an additional limitation (so a higher fire rate, but less accuracy)
